Short Review: I wanted to slap this "mother" at least a hundred time during this book. Pushing you kid to do shit to make you look better. Making your kid get a job with bitches as bosses because you want to look better. Making your kid not grieve about her died farther because you can't handle it, sheesh. Than this Jason guy who is the MCs boyfriend in the beginning, whoa, more like a business partner and he makes himself sound like he is 40yrs old. The MCs sister was the only decent ish character in this book.

Misc.

Book Boyfriend: Wes!
Best Friend Material: Nope.

"It’s all in the view. That’s what I mean about forever, too. For any one of us our forever could end in an hour, or a hundred years from now. You never know for sure, so you’d better make every second count."

— Sarah Dessen, The Truth About Forever

I really liked this. I think this might be my favourite so far of Sarah's but I haven't read that many.

Review 2015: Still loved this!!!

Review in 2012: This book is amazing. Even reading it for the second or third time I really enjoyed it. I love Sarah Dessen's writing style and how all the characters are relatable. I also love how every single one of her characters are flawed. None of them are perfect and their flaws make them who they are. All of Dessen's characters are perfect in their own way.

The plot of this book is kind of similar to her other books, but I really don't mind because I think Sarah Dessen does it so well. The character growth is amazing. I love how all of her characters slowly change through out the whole book.

Also, I really love the themes in this book. This book covers grief, how to deal with grief, perfection can't be achieved, and forever is right now.

I could gush about this book all day so I should stop right now.

I really enjoy this book. If you are an older adult, you may not relate to the characters as well as I do because I am in my teens.

I'm not usually into chick-lit, but this one proves to be an exception. Well-written and entertaining- I will surely read more of Dessen's books.

4.5/5 stars

I would give this book three-and-a-half stars if I could. I thought it was pretty basic and predictable at first, but by the end, I really enjoyed the story and the way Macy, the main character, developed and changed. I kind of got annoyed with her sometimes, but overall I liked the book. I can completely see the appeal in books by this author to teen girls, and would probably recommend it to a teen girl looking for a girly book, or to someone who liked say, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants or Meg Cabot books.

Rereading this book has been such a perfect bit of nostalgia for me. Dessen has a way with making even a big ensemble cast like this one work, and ending every scene and chapter in a way that makes me want to keep going. I’d watch this movie
