sweet, spicy, Omegaverse

4.5 / 5.0 this is one of the better stories. Right up there with Kathryn Moon, Harper Wylde writes an excellent story. The FMC is sufficiently damaged, her mates are completely complimentary, and the story ends on a fantastic cliff-hanger. This is a good one but has significant Content Warnings, so know your limits.

This was just poorly written. Used cheap, bad writing to make you buy the next book (I won’t). Literally nothing happened for 80% of the book. There was the beginning where she escaped the evil clutches of her previous alphas (we only meet 1). Then the middle that covers a few days of her meeting the guys and falling for them in a very unconvincing manner. The guys were very poorly developed. I couldn’t tell you a singly personality trait of one other than “the giant teddy bear”. Then in the last like 5 pgs there was suddenly a cliff hanger. Zero rising tension, just bam out of nowhere. The omega was boring with essentially zero personality. I’ve read (and enjoyed!) several other books by this author, but this one felt rushed like they were quickly hopping on the omegaverse bandwagon. I won’t be reading the next book.

*SPOILERS*    SLOOOOOWWWWW. The first 5% of the book and the last 30% of the book should have been the only parts of the book. Sheesh, this was a slow one. Constant build up that leads no where? Then the only exciting things that happened during all this dead space that could have led to a real plot were totally overlooked and brought back in the very last chapter and we're supposed to be stunned! HW could have done SO MUCH with the dead sparrow and mice omens that were happening all around her. This was such a huge part of Pack Silver coming to kidnap her and yet we get almost nothing on it except her telling herself she's overthinking. Disappointed for sure. On to book 2...
