It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. It had a lot of tropes that just aren’t for me. The pacing was kind of all over the place. I’ll probably read the second one, but it’s not a favorite.
I devoured this book so quickly. It was easy to read with loveable characters and simple but interesting world building. I do think this books is quite light on the vampirism part.
I really loved Cas as our FMC. She’s going through a lot and is honestly a relatable character. She has a quiet strength that grows throughout the book and she’s so resilient. I loved Damien as our MMC and how sweet and caring he was. They both adored each other so much and there was no angst in this relationship but pure passion and chemistry. I wish they used some endearments less but it’s still cute and it’s funny because one of the main tropes with this couple is actually one I dislike but this book is making it work.
I also really liked the side characters and thought they were well developed.
There is a secret that didn’t come out in this book and I’m dying for it to come out in the next one!

ARC of the renewed version for an honest review
This book kicked off so strong for me. Even reading about Cas putting on socks would have held me almost unbreathing while speeding through the pages. However the book let me down as it progressed. The idea is marvelous. I love the depth put in the FMC with her terminal illness and complicated, boring life. It starts off with the urban fantasy vibe, which I often do not prefer, but didn´t mind in this book. It sort of gave me Twilight meets The Mortal Instruments vibes.
A personal opinion of mine that made me dislike this book was that the writing felt messy and childish. Which could partly be because the book is in first person, but is mostly just the choice of words. It also Cassie go from exciting to annoying as the story progressed. The story also just turned more and more predictable, it felt like the author stopped hinting and started shouting what was gonna happen. Things became repetetive. As Damien told Cas about one thing, he left out the another thing, which was then presented a couple pages after, when it felt as if the characters should have gotten to the next point of the book and not backtraced into the same conversation they had hours or days earlier. In addition to this, there is a scene where Cas takes her medicine, does some other things and then proceeds to retake her medication, as if she didn´t already do that a few minutes ago. It made the book feel unedited, in my opinion.
The characters were also way too forgiving and okay with the obvious traumatic events that happened. (Spoiler alert from here on)
The mother and father´s calm reaction to their terminally ill daughter returning after being kidnapped for two weeks, felt really unrealistic. As well as Cassie being unnaturally alright with her life turning upside down when Damien told her of the immortals and more. I could have excused that with the fact that she has lived multiple lives and this is the only life where she is not a supernatural being herself. Sort of like a part of her recognized it and accepted it.
If the idea was written differently, I would definetly be a bigger fan of it. But in my opinion, it felt like the author was way to excited with the idea and wanting to give the readers all of her ideas, which made the book lengthy, the information overwhelming and ended up putting a damper on the book.

To be honest, this was just okay. I didn’t hate it nor did I really like it. I did feel that the plot was a little confusing to keep track of or understand and I felt certain story threads kind of disappeared. Also the fated mates trope isn’t my favorite and this one felt very insta love (which I know that is my issue and might not be the norm).
Maybe I’ll come back to it but I’m trying to decide whether is is a “this book was not for me” sort of feeling. Had I known this was more of an urban fantasy I probably would have avoided it. There’s no “fantasy” until about the 25%-30% mark and the pacing is just off. Also this character is handling a lot of stressful things pretty well for someone who has a series heart condition.

REVISED EDITION
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶🌶
The original version was amazing but this revised version is 100% FUCKING FANTASTIC AND AMAZING! THIS HAS BECOME ONE OF MY TOP FAVORITE SERIES EVER! Cassie is the FMC in this amazing book! Cassie is a strong ass character!! Cassie goes through so many struggles, but she got through them like a badass bitch!! I loved the character development that Cassie went throughout the whole book! I also absolutely loved how she cared about the people that were in her life and how she didn’t want any of them to go through the hurt that she went through. I loved the nickname Mea Sol that she gave to Damien.
Now I want to talk about Damien! Damien is the MMC in this amazing book!! Damien was very mysterious in the beginning of the book, but as you get more into the book then you learn more about him. I loved that Damien was a “Touch Her and You Die” character!! I loved the nickname Mea Luna that he gave to Cassie. I loved him so much! His Character development was also amazing.
I also wanted to talk about how amazing Barrett was!! He kind of became like a big brother to Cassie. I loved that Barrett mentioned that Cassie was part of the family.
Favorite Quotes:
“Touch her, Barrett, and I swear to the Gods, it’ll be the last fucking thing you do.”
“I promised I’d always be there for you. And I always will.”
“Yes, mea luna. I’m here. I'm real.”
“You’re not useless to me, mea luna. I want you to know that,”
“Gods, you’re right where I want you.”
“Be still, mea luna. I’ve wanted this for so long. Let me worship you like the goddess you are.”
“Gods, the things I want to do to you right now,” he growled.
"Gods you’re taking it so fucking good,” he said…
“You’re absolutely perfect, mea luna.”
“I love my scent on you, want it to always remain on your skin.”
