Now , did I take the psychopath test in the book? Yes.
Yes I did.

And that was a close call 😳

Now for my thoughts ,
I just didn't get the kick out of it. That's all.

With thrillers/mysteries that are based on a sole twist , it's either you like it or you don't.
And I personally wasn't too shocked with the twist.
And I thought some parts were too convenient just because it would be easier for the book.

Switched at birth but make it a thriller! I listened to the audiobook for this book and I think that made it better. The audiobook was very easy to follow, which is often not the case. The beginning of this book was slow. This was an 11 hour book and I was kinda bored till hour 5. It wasn’t really much of a “twisty” book - which is fine, sometimes twists can really cheapen a book. This was my first fiction audiobook and while I did enjoy it, it wasn’t a must listen.

So, let me jump right in like the book did…

Although chapter 1 was an immediate jump into the story, it somehow paused for 200 pages before packing the rest with action. The storyline was fantastic, I’m just not so sure about the execution.

Somehow the book felt both fast-pased and slow-pased at the same time? I felt like this book didn’t need to be 400+ pages.. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy this book. In all honesty, I couldn’t put it down for the last 200 pages, however in my opinion the book was only just above average in the end.

Despite the exciting
legal battles between the 2 couples
, I unfortunately didn’t care for the ending.
Reading about Maddie’s character, I didn’t feel like psychopathy fit or was well-described in her, like it was with Miles. I also don’t think he needed to die. It seems like the easy way out, as if Delaney didn’t know what to do with him towards the end.

A mix between a domestic thriller and a court thriller. Ultimately great, with a slower first quarter, but when that first little inkling of something wrong happens, it becomes incredibly tense - I read about 350 pages in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. Page-turning and infuriating, I kept getting frustrated by the new developments because I wanted things to turn out well for Pete!

I will say Maddie is a very annoying character - I don't think she's a good person (though that is the point) and she kept making stupid decisions.

One thing I find annoying in thrillers is that trend of having one last twist in the last 5 pages or so - it's never normally necessary, and can be quite eye-roll-worthy sometimes.

Talk about a domestic suspense that turns thrilling to read. There's something about Miles that rubs me the wrong way from the moment he is introduced in the story. I enjoyed watching the tensions build between the two families whose children were switched at birth. I always just wanted to know what came next!

I really enjoy JP Delaney books he is one of my auto buy authors. I really enjoyed this and am giving it 4 stars but I didn't enjoy it as much as his others. The reason I love his books so much his his ability to keep me guessing I never quite know what's going on and just when I think I do it completely changes. This one was the opposite I guessed the twist and what was happening quite early on however that didn't take away my enjoyment of reading and I still loved it I was just expecting more of a twist.
