Was a little disappointed by this book. I've loved all JP Delaney's other books do maybe my expectations were too high coming into it. It just didn't capture me the way the others have. Don't get me wrong its not a bad book, it just felt slow and predictable at times.

A dark page turner. 3.5 stars.

I love a good book with so many twists and psychopaths. I was angry for the majority of the book but it held my interest and I liked the ending.

This book started off slow and I wasn't sure about continuing, but I stuck with it. I'm glad I did, because after the 30-40% mark it really picked up and I ended up enjoying it.

The story was well written, as were the characters, who were very realistically written.

I did think it was more a family drama rather than a psychological thriller. I do admit to despising Miles from the off, especially when he pretty much sounded overbearing and controlling from the moment him and Lucy are introduced to us.

Thank you to NetGalley and PJ Delaney for the chance to read this book.

Wow! Not only was the storyline original, but the characters were developed intelligently and it was easy to feel the frustration and desperation with them. Moral confliction is always a hard balance and this book plays it well!

I am never completely sure what I am getting into when I pick up a J.P. Delaney novel and this one really hit it out of the park.

Pete Riley and his partner Maddie receive an unsolicited knock on their door one day to see Miles Lambert who tells Pete and Maddie that their son Theo, isn't really their son at all. According to Miles, their children were switched at birth. At first, the families attempt to make something of a compromise work. While David has some behavioral problems, the Lamberts are happy with their son by nurture; but Miles would like to play a role in Theo's life as well.

Spoiler As expected, the utopia double family, doesn't work out super well here. And Miles, who turns out to be a raging sociopath, one whom is son Theo takes after, brings the matter to court. While ultimately, Maddie and Pete are allowed to keep Theo, that's the least of their worries. Miles has anonymously murdered a journalist who was on to his antics and Maddie and Pete may be next. Maddie soon discovers that Miles had been sexually abusing his nanny and realizes that Lucy is his victim. After being confronted by Maddie, Lucy shares that, afraid of Miles' wrath, she had switch the babies at birth. Together, the three rid themselves of Miles forever, by killing him.
