I read this book in under 24 hours because I just could not put it down!! So gripping and a great storyline, would recommend to any thriller fans!

Completely different to anything I've read before, definitely give it a go!

The premise of this book intrigued me. Can two families actually make this sort of arrangement work? Are there hidden agendas? Reading this book, it is in someways easy to figure out what is going to happen, but the means taken to get there are downright stunning as to what lengths people are capable of going to in order to get what they want. The end result is also typical however it is not the end of the story. It was definitely enough to keep me turning the pages anxious for it all to come together.

Not your typical “babies-switched-at-birth” story, which made for a very interesting concept with that extra dash of a little twist. The story slowly unfolds and next you are in anticipation of what is going to happen and how.

For nothing.

Props to the author for having the ability to keep me interested page after page, but after a while, the story just became bizarre and unrealistic. The last 1/4 of the book just disappointed me entirely. The ending? Well...I was happy one thing took place but not happy with the far-fetched actions leading up to it.

Overall, the characters were complete idiots, antagonistic, and dull. I probably would have been able to get past that had the book been a lot better than it was.

Pretty entertaining thriller, would recommend but not prioritize as a “must read”.

The first part was uncomfortable. The middle was slow. The last part gave me satisfaction. I learned a lot about child care and UK child law. It also gave insights regarding postpartum depression and psychosis. Expect many cameos and back stories. Tho I struggled weaving them altogether, I think they were necessary to prove a point. My takeaway was anything that involves lawyers is expensive and exhausting.

I love all of JP Delaney’s books. There’s nothing particularly wrong with Playing Nice. I just think the topic rubs me the wrong way. For majority of the book you have that feeling of no matter how good of a person you are or how hard you try, the system is fucked and you can still get fucked and have everything taken away and that is something that really bothers me. It’s a unique concept, well written and suspenseful and makes you really worry (but maybe too well).
