I was looking forward to a new pairing for this group of fabulous metahumans, but this pairing was tepid and lacked any type of substance that would make this novella engaging and fun. There simply wasn't enough time or substance to establish any kind of meaningful connection so this remained a pretty superficial and not particularly interesting pairing. And like the rest of the books in this series , lots of fast paced, high drama and multiple rounds of marathon sex.
Trevor and Brendan are beyond sweet and I loved getting glimpses of all my fave peeps.
I love seeing the life of another member of the team, Trevor. The other members are there as well, but it’s based on Trevor and his time in medical school and his relationship with a paramedic Brendan.
They have a slow burn, even for a novella and it’s amazing. They both show their internal attraction for one another and it’s a beautiful show to have a front row seat to.
The more I read/listen to Hailey Turner’s work the more I love it. She’s by far one of my favorites.

While I enjoy Trevor getting a novella for himself, and Brendan as the first non-metahuman POV characters, the continued abuse of power that goes entirely unreflected and uncriticized really grates in this one.
I did not mind the fast romance, it's a novella after all, and I enjoyed the bedroom telekinetics.

Awwwww I love that Trevor gets a story! I enjoyed getting to check in with everyone and this seemed really fitting for Trevor to be finally being a full doctor. Yet trouble still manages to find him with a Sons of Adam attack on the ER to get to a patient there. I loved how Trevor meet Brendan. He's a hero in his own right and of course nothing less than the best for Trevor. I liked these two together. They were a good couple, but their relationship didn't feel rushed either. I love seeing these guys find happiness.
Short and sweet, a bit insta and rushed but cute nonetheless.

Trevor Sanchez is trying to acclimate to civilian life and medical school when his teaching hospital comes under attack by Sons of Adam, Brendan Kane is the ems personnel that Trevor saved, only for there to be an additional threat to Brendan's life.
This is a sweet novella with plenty of action and heat, it gives us the readers a chance to catch up with the team which I really enjoyed, a very good addition to the series. I would love for there to be more.
