Honestly, I just think this isn’t the book for me. I’ve read two Scalzi novels due to his high praise but I’ve had a lackluster response to both. I think I should’ve treat this more fluff than I did. That might have gave me better preparation for this novel.
The comedy feels forced at times and a joke gets repeated too much for my liking. There are certain things that I thought would become more prevalent but weren’t. The anntagonist wasn’t someone compelling. And some characters blurred together in my opinion.
The premise of KPS was pretty cool and the “science” of the Kaiju was something I enjoyed. Organic nuclear reactors are a good concept. I like the amount of worldbuilding dedicated to this alternate earth of kaiju.

I really enjoyed this. It made me laugh a lot. A very funny parody of Godzilla, monster tropes, politics, military budgets, sci-fi & humanity’s tendency to also act like an abominable monster.
But, it’s got a lot more fantasy then I want in a story. I have a very low threshold for that genre. And being focused to learn about the reproduction cycle of a fictional monster was a drag.
I can’t give it 5 stars, even though I did really enjoy most of it.
“Starter Villain” is still my favorite.

honestly I don't think I will hate it if I finished it, but that's the thing, it's an okay/3 stars book for me. Also the humor is very marvel-like if that makes sense?
