"Stalkerem" po paroletniej przerwie powracam do kontynuowania poznawania przygód szwedzkiego komisarza Joony Linny. Mam bardzo sprzeczne odczucia co do 5 odsłony cyklu autorstwa Larsa Keplera. Z jednej strony czytało mi się ją wyśmienicie i wciągnęła mnie na amen. Intryga kryminalna była tak zawiła, a akcja tak dynamiczna, trzymająca w napięciu i pełna niespodziewanych zwrotów fabularnych, że jak usiadłam do lektury to kontakt się ze mną urywał, a jedyny świat jaki dla mnie istniał to ten przedstawiony na kartach powieści. Ponad 600-stronicowe tomiszcze połknęłam w niecałe dwie doby. No i niby wszystko pięknie idealnie, och wow książka zasługująca na 10 gwiazdek. A no właśnie nie. Bo pomimo najwyższych walorów rozrywkowych i sporej dawki czytelniczej przyjemności jaką zapewnił mi "Stalker" w trakcie lektury to jednak już na następny dzień po skończeniu książki mój entuzjazm znacznie opadł. Dopiero na chłodno zdałam sobie sprawę, że jednak tak kolorowo to nie było i powieść mimo, że niezwykle interesująca, to jednak dosyć nijaka i niezapadająca w pamięć.
Sprytnie całkowity brak jakiegokolwiek klimatu przyćmiony jest przez szalenie dynamiczną akcję. Sama historia jest tak angażująca, że w trakcie czytania ów brak tak charakterystycznej dla skandynawskich thrillerów mrocznej, zimnej atmosfery jest kompletnie niezauważalny. A przecież często to właśnie otoczka samej opowieści bardziej niż właściwa treść przesądza o znakomitości książki. Osobiście uwielbiam kryminały Michaela Connelly'ego - to co je tak wyróżnia z tysiąca innych pozycji z tego gatunku to właśnie unikatowy, niepodrabialny klimat jaki potrafi wykreować autor. Z kart powieści Connelly'ego aż wylewa się amerykańskość - każde zdanie przesiąknięte jest czy to brudem Los Angeles czy duchotą i suchym powietrzem Nowego Meksyku. Te książki są tak realistyczne, że czyta się je jak reportaże. W pisarstwie małżeństwa kryjącego się pod pseudonimem Lars Kepler żadne z powyższych nie występuje. Nie wiem, może stałam się wyjątkowo wybredna jeśli chodzi o kryminały i wciągająca, logiczna i pełna twistów historia to dla mnie już za mało, żeby uznać książkę za bardzo dobrą. Może zbytnio “wsiąkłam” w klimatyczne pozycje wspomnianego już Connelly'ego czy Grange’a i Mankella - autorów którzy nie stronią od wplatania w fabułę swoich powieści aktualnych problemów społecznych, polityki i historii, że kryminał pozbawiony tych elementów nie jest już dla zaspokojenia mojej satysfakcji czytelniczej wystarczający.
Jeszcze w trakcie czytania byłam pewna, że "Stalkera" będę polecać na prawo i lewo jako jeden z najlepszych dostępnych na rynku skandynawskich kryminałów. Dobrze, że nie pisałam tej opinii na świeżo po zamknięciu książki, bo teraz moje odczucia są - może nie diametralnie - ale jednak daleko różne. Nadal twierdzę, że powieść Keplera jako czytadło sprawdza się doskonale - wciąga tak, że pokona nawet najgorszy zastój czytelniczy. Ale niestety - "Stalker" to tylko i wyłącznie czytadło i czytelnicy lubujący się w ambitniejszych kryminałach, które poza rozrywką dostarczają porcji wiedzy o świecie - koniec końców będą rozczarowani.

A great book - the ending is surprising but ties in well with the little hints that Kepler left in the book. It does seem a bit far-fetched at times (and is also pretty garish in the description of the crime scenes) but I think that adds to the story, especially if you are looking for an intense crime thriller.
Also - I hadn't realized that it was a part of the Joona Linna series so some chapters confused me a bit at the beginning. But the plot of this book is independent of the series and I think you can definitely read it as a stand alone.

O meu primeiro Lars Kepler e compreendo o hype a sua volta.
Pode-se ler como stand alone mas há partes mais compreensíveis para quem leu os livros anteriores mas nada que complique a leitura actual.

Either Lars Kepler does it again, or in the most gullible reader on the planet! Gooped and gagged fr, I had no idea who the killer was gonna end up being! And naturally, the epilogue left me wanted to pick up the next one immediately😭
One of the most violent, creepy and well-written book I have read so far. All throughout the novel, I had an eerie feeling going up and down my spine. I am also glad that I was right about who the 'Stalker' was. :D
This book will be among my top five reads of 2017.

Okay. So this was a little darker than I was expecting. I perhaps should have taken the title a touch more seriously. this IS a book about a stalker after all, and a particularly heinous one at that. And sadly, in spite of the fact that this book is now a good few years old, the premise could still have been ripped from the headlines of today, violence against women being something of an all too prevalent feature these days.
As per normal, I've not read any other books in this series, so my knowledge of the background of series leader Joona Linna is not great. I got glimpses of this in the narrative of Stalker, but if you are someone who needs to know everything, I would suggest starting at the beginning and working your way up to this book. If you are a woman who spends a lot of time on their own, you might want to read the book in company too, as the premise behind this case, and the way in which women are murdered, makes for grim reading. Most violence takes place off the page, but not all, and there is no doubting the ferocity of the attack, or the way in which the victims are made to suffer. It makes for grim reading, and is not for the faint of heart.
Whilst Joona does play a pivotal part in this story, it is not in the role of serving Police Officer. There is absolutely no doubting his credentials, and in spite of being somewhat worse for wares, his instincts are still sharp - all the more important for those caught up in this particular nightmare. In fact the case sails very close to home, with the murders reminiscent of a case once worked on by Joona's friend, psychologist Erik. There are scenes which have me in mind of the film Seven, a particularly vicious twist in the tale hitting us around the halfway mark which really changes the course of the investigation and the kind of darkness which will consume the final chapters.
I really was drawn into the book, the storyline completely compelling in spite of how far it led me into the shadows. The authors have done a brilliant job of making me invested in the lives of the characters, regardless of the fact that I have only just met them, and that deadly mystery and suspense they infuse in every page makes for a very gripping read. There is a pulsing tension from the very beginning, a sense that the story is building to quite the climax, which indeed it does, providing a conclusion I don't think many would see coming. They chose a path less trodden, and it works perfectly. It's certainly made me more curious about the rest of the series and has me adding it to the ever growing list of 'series I really must read the rest of'.
If you like a dark, twisted and brooding mystery, with compelling characters and tension that never lets up for a minute, then this could well be the book, and I assume series, for you. Recommended.

A string of murders have started and they are eerily similar to a case quite a while ago. The psyc for the man who was eventually sentenced begins to doubt his previous judgment. So now their trying to find the murderer, but they are not easy to track down.
