Honestly just not great. Just tried to get through it and be done. Wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, it didn’t keep me excited or curious.

This isn’t the kind of thing I usually read, so I’m glad the writing was accessible and engaging. I didn’t find it very remarkable, I feel like the message at the end of the book was ‘no one really knows why Louise did it’ but from what I read I felt like I had a pretty good understanding? The nuance of the last line would have had way more impact if it wasn’t so explicit in Louise’s thoughts and feelings right before the murders.

I've been meaning to read this since its publication and finally had a chance to finish it. Personally, I like crime and mystery novels but this one was really different to the crime novels I normally read. The tone was more descriptive than flowing, which did not bother at all until the midway of the book. Having read the story that this is based on, I tried to fill in the gaps I had. Even though it was very well written, I had problems with the plot line at times because it started talking about all these other characters for pages. Also, it stayed true to the inspired events that occurred in New York.
