Cute christmas rom-com.
The love développement between the two main characters was a bit forced imo. But it could also be due to the audiobook version.

so stupid and silly and delightful. giggling and kicking my feet reading it

(⭐2.5) It was okay for a blitzed last book of the year but it could have been much better. The characters were flat and like many other reviews said, I just felt sorry for the MMC. Who should have been much more of a side character, alas...

cute but a classic setup

For the good: as someone who’s been in emotionally abusive relationships this book is so validating and really captures the experience of what that realization feels like. It’s one treasure for me in this light hearted rom-com. I also generally liked all the characters. It’s again nice to have some sapphic feel good representation that has 0 to do with coming out.
For the not so good: this is one book that I feel like would have been better as a movie, and honestly I
Hope it does get picked up as a cheesy Christmas movie! I think that would be lovely. That being said, I don’t feel like the book is exactly a page turner, and I think it’s just because the content in general. One other problem I have is that once both Margot and Ellie start falling for each other it feels like their narrative voices become really similar instead of distinct people like they were in the beginning.

All in all it was a cute Christmas book for the holiday season!

It’s a PG Hallmark movie that has some interesting moments that get an extra star, but mostly it’s predictable and repetitive and skippable. Also theres no smut. No one is horny at all, so everyone gets depicted as a kind of alien person, like in a Hallmark movie.

Was it a cute Christmas book? Yes.
Was it a good Christmas book? No.

Went into this warily after seeing a lot of negative ‘I feel bad for Ben’ reviews but left loving it.
I expected some massive affair/ betrayal, which would have been terrible as I loved Ben as a character, but didn’t get that vibe at all.
Very cute hallmarky Christmas book, the best I’ve read this holiday season :)

the summary and amount of low reviews for this book piqued my interest and i had to try it. ngl at first i thought the book did not seem as bad as the reviews made it out to be (maybe my low standards going into it lol) but then i came to the last 30% and...

the issue that led up to the conclusion was really just terribly written and infuriated me. it felt like it was added just for some drama and there was really very little thought put into it.

overall it was 4/5 but that ending deserves another star knocked off (keeping my rating 4/5 cuz the bad reviews were def disproportionate and need balancing out)

Pretty good, but the pacing was pretty off having them rush into a relationship have all the problems be resolved fairly quickly but dragging out the lying part. Good ideas tho.
