This is my first hockey romance book, and I now see what all the hype is about. I love the characters so much, the author has really set herself up to be able to write a ton of books with this group. Even characters that were “the bad guys” in the beginning are able to show us they are good people. I just love all the bromance. GiGi and Ryder are just delicious together, I think enemies to lovers may be my favorite trope.

Cute, hilarious, moderately spicy hockey romance.

Sadly the plot got away from the author towards the end, but I still enjoyed it overall.

I did appreciate that there was no unnecessary third act breakup.

Gigi and Ryder are so supportive of each others aspirations. Ryder developed so much as a character and he and Gigi's personalities I think really complimented each other.

Their college friend group was so amusing and energetic, I found myself laughing out loud during their group hang outs. I also loved the insight we got to Garrett and Hannah's happily ever after, they ended up being the exact type of parents I thought they would be.

Okay...I accidentally did not save my carefully formulated review..haha...so here are some key notes:

-- "bad-boy" does not have to be asshole (and especially sexist comments don't have to be used to give the mMC "edge")

-- the trope where one male character acts shitty and then grovels gets boring when it is used for almost all male characters in a book and repeatedly

- I get that the book was already long..but skippin  certain scenes was disappointing

+ liked wide repertoire of side-characters who did not exist only to bring along this story

+ more show than tell

++ a fMC who is driven, career-oriented and stubborn while also being feminine and in touch with her emotions was really refreshing

++ the portrayal of other relationships or them being formed other that the romantic one

Spice(quantity&quality):
4/5
The tension was gooood. It also felt like the spicy scenes actually added sth to the story and felt "custom-fitted" for the MCs there is also variety and detail.

It was such a delight to dive back into the world of Briar University. I loved reading about the hockey, the campus and OF COURSE all the characters from the Off Campus and Briar U series again. I feel like these series are Elle Kennedy‘s absolute strong point and I could read 1000 books set at Briar U. That being said, I loved Gigi and Ryder. Their banter was soooooo good as was the spice. They really completed each other and made each other grow. However, there were some things I didn‘t really dig about this book
First, I hated how long it took Gigi to finally tell Case to fuck off and leave her the fuck alone. I get that she didn’t want to hurt his feelings and that the keeping the relationship a secret part played into building some tension in the story but I just hated how possessive Case was and how he wouldn’t take no for an answer. That made me kinda hate him even though he made a turn for the better in the end, defending Ryder at the press conference and all. And I absolutely hated the plot twist wedding. Omg, how stupid! Sorry but this made me think about only giving this book 4 stars and that says something as I absolutely loved the rest of it.
I also liked all the new characters we got introduced to especially Beckett. Can’t wait to read more about him and I hope he gets his own book!

All in all, I‘m really looking forward to the next part of this series and I couldn‘t be happier that Elle Kennedy is writing Briar U books again 😍
