I loved the part when they broke up. I really liked the way it was built and then the catharsis. The rest of the book, on the other hand, is lukewarm to me. The first half of the book was like reading Call Me by Your Name, with the option of HEA. The part after the breakup starts to get boring on a level. I liked that the MCs trying to heal themselves, to rebuild themselves, but bah ... It was so little for me. For example, compared to Sebastian giving up everything for his son, we see no connection between them. Moreover, later we see only the relationship between Phoenix and Caleb. Sebastian is also arranged in a few sentences. Phoenix’s character development starts off quite well when he tries to rebuild his relationship with her mother, but then that too drowns in nothingness. And the very end of the book is just a syrupy sweets without any particular catharsis. In spite of that, it got almost 4 stars from me because of the middle part.

Wow…this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was impressed. I was terrible at philosophy in college, but I appreciated the theme of the book surrounding the subject. There is nothing earth-shattering here…as far as the teacher/student relationship goes…but I was pulled in from the prologue and had a hard time putting this down.
I appreciated that Dr. Wicked eventually did the right thing twice in his teaching positions. I never felt he pressured Phoenix into anything. In fact, Phoenix pursued him, and he resisted for a bit.
While it hurt, I thought their separation and growth during that separation was absolutely necessary…for both of them. They both needed closure and healing on outside life issues before being able to forge a solid relationship.
I think one of my favorite parts of the book was the letters…
I loved the last couple of chapters…getting to view their relationship after their hard-fought battle. It made the struggles and pain worth it.
I can’t wait to read more from this author!

This is a very poetic kind of book. You might even call it introspective. Of course, there is real action here, but there is also a lot of inner monologue.
Both characters go through a pretty significant personal growth, which I didn't like because it took quite a bit of introspection and, but I also did like it, because it was ultimately good for their relationship and their connection which I in turn feel got deeper than in the beginning. The reasons for were perhaps to be seen coming, but although I don't love the initial reasons, like I said earlier, I think was needed for them, and the way they handled in the future was actually really sweet.
The surrounding cast were there. That's pretty much all I have to say about them as they didn't hold too high of a significance to the story.
The risks and consequences of their coupling were there, but fortunately, in my opinion, didn't take up too much page time or force a separation.
Do not read this for the action, read this for the poetic narration of human growth.

DNF at 40%, skimmed the end.
I really liked the writing. The author is very talented.
This could have been an amazing story if the circumstances were tweaked a little. Like if Phoenix was in college instead of high school. It was just too taboo for my tastes. I’ve realized I’m not into age gaps where one is a teen.
I did not like Sebastian (the teacher). He came off as very self-absorbed, aggressive, and predatory. Giant red flags everywhere with him.
I loved Phoenix. But ultimately he was just a sad, lonely little boy who missed his dad and sought a replacement… and IMO, Sebastian took advantage.
The relationship felt too much like grooming and I was very uncomfortable with the references to a father/son dynamic.

CP Harris can do no wrong for me. I intense feelings, the journey you go on!!
I was reading this on a packed train, I was so emotional, full on crying at one point, my partner was concerned I’d been sent a distressing message and a lady gave me a tissue and told me I’d be fine.
Loved it.
Sebastian and Phoenix deserve your time

The Boy Who Loved Wicked is one of those books you can't put down. It was raw and grity and just this side of taboo with Phoenix being involved with his high school teacher Sebastian who was in a loveless marriage. Their relationship grew slowly. From student and teacher, to neighbors who became friends and then lovers fully aware what they were doing was wrong and illegal but unable to help themselves.
Things were not smooth sailing for them. Phoenix and Sébastien had to work hard for their happy ever after and it took a lot of self growth and time. By the end of the book, they were still learning and growing but together which for them was all that really mattered.
On a side note, I really enjoyed the philosophy aspect that was threaded throughout the novel. It suited the story and characters well.

The Boy Who Loved Wicked is a teacher/student MM romance.
Like Bad Wrong Things I was consumed and absolutely sunk into this book. One would think I would have learned the first time when starting a C.P Harris book one does not do it before they have to go to work. Putting down her books is absolutely painful! Regrets on having to go to work and delaying this read.
I love a good forbidden trope, but this book is so much more than it's tropes. It's beautifully written with love, heartache and loss at the forefront. I felt all the feels…And it takes a special kinda author to not only hook me in but provoke the feels. Their story hurt my heart. My heart hurt for the pain in the pages of this book. That is absolute gifted author to elicit such a reaction.
I don't want to give spoilers in my review, because this is a book you absolutely need to sink your teeth in and go in blind for.
