Great creativity. Gives good goals of writing a book. Really enjoyed it.

Andy & Terry live in a dream tree-house, drawn in gorgeous detail. They need to finish a book for their publisher ("You mean it's already last Friday?"), and the 13 stories end up being their attempts to do so while procrastinating. Laugh-out-loud silly and good-humored creativity. Perfect example of the highly-illustrated boys-behaving-semi-badly genre.

This book was just too absurdist for me. I could barely get through it but I always read every reading Olympics book. I can see how some kids would love it.

Fans of Whimpy Kid, Dogman, and Bad Guys would likely enjoy this book from this Australian team. I didn't really like it but I'm not the target audience.

Don’t you just hate it when you remember you have a project due tomorrow, and you realize with a sinking feeling that you haven’t even started it yet? Imagine if that happened, but instead of a book report, it was a whole novel you had to turn in! This is just what happens to best friends Andy and Terry, who live in a 13-story treehouse that is filled with so much cool stuff, they completely forget about the book they need to turn in to their publisher, Mr. Big Nose. But how can you blame them? Would you want to do any work if you had a roomful of pillows, swinging vines, a bowling alley, and a man-eating shark tank in your house? All the same, Andy and Terry have to write this book, and they’re trying to buckle down...but then there are the flying cats. And after the flying cats there are the sea monkeys that turn into sea monsters. And after the sea monsters there are the giant gorillas -- seriously, how are Andy and Terry going to have their book finished in time to hand it in to Mr. Big Nose? They start a tale about a hero named Super Finger, and it’s pretty good (especially the part when he helps the legendary musician Jimi Handrix nail a complicated guitar solo), but it’s not the stuff epic stories are made of. If only Andy and Terry could find the right source of inspiration, they’d be golden. This story is packed with silly, slightly sloppy illustrations, and filled with the kind of slapstick humor that made Captain Underpants the wildly popular hero he is today. If you like goofball humor and zany illustrations, or if you’re dying to find out if Andy and Terry finish their book on time, then the the 13-Story Treehouse by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton is the book for you!

For readers of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Big Nate, and other zany stories - now there is a new series beginning with The 13-Story Treehouse. Andy and Terry live in a treehouse with, you guessed it, 13 stories. They have everything boys living in a treehouse could want - a live shark tank, a bowling alley, a lemonade fountain, a machine that shoots marshmallows into your mouth when you are hungry...it's a great place. The problem is that they are having so much fun, they have forgotten to write the book that their editor is waiting on - and now they only have a day to finish it up. You know how things go when you are under a deadline, suddenly anything that can go wrong, does. In this case, that means the treehouse will be attacked by a giant gorilla, a sea monster will try to eat them, monkeys will break the marshmallow machine, and they will also invent the "catnary" (a flying yellow cat). Those are just a few of the highlights of their day - the day that should have been spent quietly working on their book.

If you enjoy unending silliness, lots of dumb jokes, and general goofiness - then this is a series you will really like. It is written in a style similar to Captain Underpants. I don't mean the potty humor, but the way the main characters address the readers directly and tell us about their ridiculously crazy adventures.
