For some reason, as of late, middle grades have caught my attention. I've been reading them nonstop knowing that I have other review books that HAVE to be read, but I can't stop reading them. I'm not sure what it is, but I can't put them down. And this one was no different.
When I was a little girl I always wanted a treehouse. But considering I never had a tree big enough to hold one, I never got to have one. Lucky for me, I was able to live that childhood dream out through this book. And even more lucky for me, this tree house isn't an ordinary one. It's a 13 story treehouse with story after story of cool things to do and see. Throughout the entire book I was super jealous of all the cool things they had distracting them from writing and illustrating the book. I wanted to get out and join them with the "catnary" issue. It seemed really fun.
It was a really cute read and it kept me laughing the entire time. I can't wait to see what else these two have in store for the kiddos.

While I did not enjoy this book, I could see the appeal it might have for kids who love Big Nate.

Andy and Terry live in a 13-story treehouse with all the latest mad-science gadgetry, including a marshmallow-shooting machine, a secret underground lab, a catapult, and a giant banana.

They've also got one day to finish the book they promised their publisher and they haven't done a thing on it all year.

This was funny in a lot of places, and there were some clever bits like a cute tribute to King Kong, and a running gag about the dangers of ordering Sea Monkey eggs.

But it never really felt like there was much at stake. Terry and Andy have all manner of ridiculous good fortune, not to mention all the latest mad science to bail them out of everything they get into. Really all they ever do is avoid work, as things get more and more outrageous around them only for them to have all their problems solved while they mostly just watch it happen.

There are some good details and a lot of funny jokes here, but it wasn't enough to hold my interest, and the main characters are not all that appealing.

The 13 story treehouse series by Andy Griffiths is so fun and has been a family favorite this summer.
.
@theramblingredhead in instagram mentioned them in her stories a few weeks back and I picked them up for my 6 year old and I to read together. You guys...He LOVES THEM. He begs me to read "just one more chapter". He has already asked us to re-read the first book. This is huge for him.
.
These are chapter books with illustrations on each page. They have silly story-lines and they reminds me a bit of the TV show Phineas and Ferb as they follow two boys and their crazy antics.

I loved this book came out on audible 21st October 2021 and was read really well. A great laugh and shows that sometimes the best bit of a holiday is coming back. I loved the spooky elements of it to coincide with Halloween and the mask at the beginning. Well done guys well put together.

A funny, crazy story that young children will enjoy reading. The pen drawings were hilarious.

I read this with my eldest son - being a 9 year old boy he typically found it very fun, and funny and didn't read too much into it with comparison to real life (here's me picking up on some other reviews...)! Which is just what they need sometimes, especially in this day and age - an escape, like we all do!

As a 34 year old woman I found it a fun read too, I kinda want to take a trip to the tree house! We'll definitely be reading the rest of the series, I already have one put away for Christmas!

I listened to the audiobook version of this twice with the kids and thought it was great fun. You gotta love Barky the Barking Dog!
