This book gave some major world building development that leads us into the world we entered in the first series. The battles are dark and filled with tension.

Several characters also get interesting developments. I can't wait to see how they grow, and am interested in what happens next.

My complaint of she cats, especially mothers, being killed off, continues. I can't give these books a higher rating due to that. It's been a cheap gimmick in this series that's overplayed.

Since I feel exactly the same about this book as I do about the previous installments, I decided to copy-paste the review I gave them.

I just can't with the writing style. It's so basic, bland, dull, monotonous, repetitive, you name it. The same applies to literally everything about this book. I don't like it. I don't feel any of the stakes, and all the events feel uneventful. It's a no from me. 5/10

This is my favorite “Dawn of the Clans” book so far. I’ve finally reached a point where I’m invested in the main characters, so the drama is more impactful than ever.

I don’t like Clear Sky, because of course he’s being a terrible character right now, and I want to yell whenever I listen to his incomprehensible inner monologues. “I never want to see another cat starve,” he thinks, then proceeds to starve a cat he insisted on keeping in his camp. I can’t tell if this is bad writing, in the sense that the authors are trying to justify the actions of a villain like they have in the past for Leopardstar, Blackstar, and Onestar, rather than leaning into the idea that, yes, they WERE acting maliciously and self-servingly, even if it was only temporary. For now, I will remain optimistic that Clear Sky is just a troubled little kitty who needs to sort himself out.

I’m excited to move into the second half of this series, because there are still some big names that I have yet to encounter: mainly Star Flower and Moth Flight. I’m looking forward to seeing these characters interact with StarClan, and I’m happy that fairly soon I will be able to read all of the bonus material that accompanies “Dawn of the Clans,” from the novellas to the super editions.

warrior cats please stop killing off female characters pls
Fluttering Bird, Bright Stream, Storm, Bumble, and now TURTLE TAIL have all existed just to make the main characters (Thunder, Clear Sky, Gray Wing) have depth or whatever. warrior cats please stop killing off she-cats with any importance to the plot whatsoever… hanging on to Tall Shadow and Wind Runner at this point. anyways, the Tom plot was weird (can’t believe THAT is how they killed Turtle Tail) and the final battle was pretty okay (Gray Wing said the infamous line) however the immediate StarClan/ghost cats appearance was a little strange and I hope it’s the focus of the next book!
ps the Wind Runner and River Ripple content in this was great

And that is how Starclan came to be, my friends.

Honestly I'm glad that all the fighting and stupidity that Clear Sky has caused is hopefully over for a few moons. So many cats didn't need to have died, but I suppose there's no going back any more.

Same critiques as usual for this series: good plot, unsophisticated writing. :)

I liked this book. Just, the characters are all so annoying. Let me break it down:

-Gray Wing: he's so hard-headed. He just thinks that Clear Sky hasn't changed one bit and that they can get along in peace but you gotta give the cat credit because he carries the weight of a lot of cats.

-Clear Sky: that ignorant jerk. Oh god, I hated him so much.

-Thunder: ehh, little on the fence with him.

-Turtle Tail: she's so sweet and wise. I can't believe she died.

-Jackdaw's Cry: I loved him...and the whole reason I'm putting him on this list is because he is my favorite in these books...it's really a huge deal that he died.

-River Ripple: I think he might be my second fave in this series. He's so awesome sauce!
