liked it! a nice look into adoptions and how families morph and can look so different. the writing is good, with distinct voices for each woman. i think seeing which woman readers resonate with gives you an insight into their personalities (im an elizabeth sympathiser) but i think the author's written everyone pretty sympathetically. i loved the depictions of post partum depression, motherhood stress and uncertainty, and realising when you are projecting onto your child. only thing i didnt really like was how robotic (?) the men were, idk the way they were so much flatter than the women and quite "flawless" threw me off abit.

Argh, this was a frustrating novel. What I'd hoped would be a rich family drama felt more like a Hallmark movie script. Three stars for an interesting take on modern adoption and a thoughtful look at what truly makes a family.

Rounded up to 3.5. I really enjoyed the character development in this story as well as getting to see the situation from all three adoptive mothers' perspectives.
