When Maybell Parrish learns that her great-aunt Violet has passed away and left the estate to her, Maybell abandons her mediocre life in search of something more. Yet when she arrives to the estate, it seems her troubles have only just begun. Grouchy, gorgeous Wesley has also inherited the estate-and his vision for the future is the polar opposite of Maybell’s. Convincing Wesley that a compromise is in their best interest appears to be a daunting task. But as Maybell starts to chip away at Wesley’s tough exterior, she begins to realize that reality may be even better than her dreams.
I smiled and laughed through the entire book! It was the lighthearted romcom I totally expected it to be. Sweet, sweet Wesley…He was so easy to relate to and I loved the mental health representation in his character. Also can we talk about that slow burn and forced proximity! I loved that they weren’t “in love” right from the beginning and how the relationship took work. I also want to point out how real Maybell’s daydreams felt! Talk about having your head stuck in the clouds!

What a wonderful escape! A lovely story with relatable yet quirky characters, sprinkled with just the right amount of cuteness and swoon-worthy moments, that created a very satisfying and magical romance that was like being wrapped in a cozy blanket during a summer storm. Seriously. My heart is full. Sarah Hogle creates a delightful pairing between the fanciful daydreamer Maybell and the grouchy and taciturn Wesley. Thrown together by Maybell's Great Aunt Violet's passing and struggling to navigate a dual inheritance, the two struggle with what they both envision for the property while keeping to Violet's wishes. This story is perfect for anyone who longs for a bit of escapism.

This was one of the sweetest books I've read in a while. The characters are fun to get to know, and the banter & cute-ness between the two of them makes for such a fun read.
I also loved how this author dealt with social anxiety affecting someone's life and what that could look like. I think this is one I'll add to my "re-read when I need a sweet pick-me-up" shelf" at home.

5/5 cuteness but 2/5 for heat factor.... so I'm giving it a 4/5 overall. Maybell and Wesley were super cute and I liked how the author took their time in making them grow closer together. I loved their shy moments of passing notes and sharing secrets. I felt like they had enough chemistry to become friends, but it was missing the heat that made me believe they could be a couple together.
