It was fantastically executed. The ghosts, the plots, all the extra characters and how it all ties in with the storyline, SOđPERFECT!đ And I loved the humour, although at times it did get a bit cringe, but I really liked it. It really put me in a good mood.
I really appreciate the presence of the BrontĂ«s in here, and did I mention the multi-POVs???? I loved how the romance was instead focused between Charlotte and Alexander who are just the cutest!!! đđđđ
I did also enjoy the âreferencesâ? I donât know what theyâre called. The mini fact-checks, I guess. Those were really nice. Admittedly, there were times I felt they were annoying, but overall, I really liked them.

A lot of these are issues in the original Jane Eyre story too, but all of them are called out in this retelling. They are also handled in a more YA fashion, so there isn't a lot of detail. But still, in a story about ghosts there is naturally a lot of death and murder, even of children.ok7a's review against another edition

I did get annoyed with the constant use of parentheses and the way the authors constantly talk directly to the reader. That drew me away from the story and I found it hard to jump back into the story after that.
I have never read Jane Eyre but I do know the basic story enough to know that this book definitely did not follow the original plot line. I actually like this version a lot more. Who doesnât love a spooky ghost retelling??

The Janies are back! I got Owlcrateâs July box and I was so happy to see this book in it. I love it and was going to get it for myself one way or another, but it was amazing because I have a unique cover and a signed edition of it.
This book was a lot of fun, just like My Lady Jane was. Instead of it being about actual history, it was a loose retelling of Jane Eyre. The main characters were Jane herself, Charlotte Bronte, and, a completely new character, Alexander.
In this, Jane was a real person and was friends with Charlotte. She really went to a school, but she can see ghosts. Charlotte still wants to be an author. Alexander can also see ghosts, but heâs a part of the Society for the Relocation of Wayward Spirits and, for most of the book, he wants to recruit Jane to the Society.
I loved the humor in the book and the general plot, but I do feel that it dropped off in the middle and got a teeny bit boring. It wasnât killing me, but it wasnât as interesting as I thought it could be. I think it could have been condensed to around 100 pages left and it might have been stronger for it.
But, thatâs not a bad thing. I still enjoyed it. I love the retelling of Jane Eyre and how characters from the book and real-life people made cameos in it. There were also tons of fun times and snarky jabs at sexism throughout the book.
It was just a fun book that I enjoyed reading. It made me laugh each time I read it and now Iâm just eagerly waiting for the next book in the Janies series!
