Very cute and ghoulish retelling of historical fiction, I have enjoyed this series of single story Janes (three different Janes in the three book series).

I just wanna say, THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS BOOK AND CHANGING THE STORY FOR ME. Not that the original Jane Eyre was bad, per se, but I honestly could only go through 3/4 of the book because I hated Mr Rochester so much. It was so nice for Jane to explore herself and her powers in this retelling. I feel like there was character development, but at the same time she feels like the same person in the original one. You know what I mean? Like it just feels like an alternate story, sort of.

It was fantastically executed. The ghosts, the plots, all the extra characters and how it all ties in with the storyline, SO👏PERFECT!👏 And I loved the humour, although at times it did get a bit cringe, but I really liked it. It really put me in a good mood.

I really appreciate the presence of the Brontës in here, and did I mention the multi-POVs???? I loved how the romance was instead focused between Charlotte and Alexander who are just the cutest!!! 💗💗💘💗

I did also enjoy the “references“? I don’t know what they’re called. The mini fact-checks, I guess. Those were really nice. Admittedly, there were times I felt they were annoying, but overall, I really liked them.

I enjoyed this book, but I think the idea of it was better than the execution. I adore Jane Eyre, so it was fun to read this YA twist on the story where Jane can talk to ghosts and Charlotte Bronte is her best (living) friend. The ways in which parts of the original story were woven in were often clever and sweet. I think what kept me from really loving this book is that it is very much a YA book written for teens and young adults. There's nothing wrong with that at all; I'm just not in the target audience. I may also not be in the best state of mind for this story at this moment in my life, especially because
Jane ends up alone and the book Jane Eyre is Charlotte's way of giving her friend the happy end she didn't get. Oof that one hurts.
That all being said, I think I would recommend this book, particularly if you, like me, enjoy Jane Eyre retellings of all kinds or if you like fun YA stories with ridiculous plots that know they have ridiculous plots and just go for it.

I really enjoyed this! I was a little nervous because once again I know nothing about Jane Eyre and Charlotte Brontë. I just really liked the humor in this and how they kind of relate it to the world now. I also like how the authors jump in to say something. I liked all the characters and the ghosts. I think Helen was my favorite though.
