I really wanted to like this book. Have heard nothing but good about Salman Rushdie, but this book was not what I anticipated. At times the book was a great read that captivated me, at others it was like reading a badly translated text book.

I guess "reflective" writing styles just aren't for me.

i'm a dialogue girl i can't do this

Definitely a philosophical read. Rushdie poses questions about how or why our world is lacking morality and the results of our darker sides.
I enjoyed the storyline, the fact it was being told like a history lesson. This was my first Rushdie novel so it took a minute to get used to his writing style.

This was a book I enjoyed but, man, was it hard to get through at times. It had a slow start followed by some chaos then more slow story building. I found it interesting that a book about the jinn and the strange war they begin is as slow moving as this was. I do have a great appreciation for the use of language Rushdie commands.
