"i have been a sky all my life
full of life and light and anger
if you're not coming with thunderstorms; do not
come
at all"

Well, while still mediocre, definitely better than R.H. Sin. A number of these poems were decent, as were a number of the illustrations (which are always a bonus in modern poetry). However, again: simple is not always better.

In addition, the number of human-building metaphors is astounding. Is that a new fad? If so, I cringe, hard.

I really enjoyed this. I don't know how keen I am to keep reading poetry (the only book I have ever dnf'd was a poetry book back in high school), but I would continue reading this author.

Definitely liked the first half more than the second. Some of the order felt a bit whack to me.

I really enjoyed the pictures and spent time colouring them in. I enjoyed annotating the poems.

I was really looking forward to reading this and couldn't believe it took me so long to get to it. Unfortunately it didn't pull me in and entrance me as much as other poetry books have before. There were a few standout poems that I really liked but the book as a whole was just okay. Easy read though, would be a good gift for a young teen.

*update*

Changed to 4 stars. Upon re reading this and taking my time getting through it I have found that I am enjoying it much more. Poetry needs to be savored not rushed ❤️

This collection of poems definitely had its cliche moments BUT it also was filled with beautiful language at times.

"yesterday—i was the moon
today—just an eclipse
something in me travels; some days it’s to
the dark
some days it’s to
the light. "

I really really liked reading this book. Thank you to my best friend for sending it to me.
The poetry is very empowering and I found really interesting how Noor's culture peeked through the book. And the artwork inside is insanely beautiful.
