I hope the afterlife has a little movie theatre where you can sit in silence and watch the sequence of events that led to the watershed moments of your life.

All That's Left in the World is a book packed full of hardships and pleasures, comedy and challenges, heaven and hell, but with a continuous and long lasting promise for hope.

In post-pandemic USA where a dangerous superflu has wiped out most of humanity, Andrew and Jamie feel like lost humans in a small world that has decayed and died; a pair setting out on a journey in search for an unknown light at the end of the tunnel, meeting new faces but always facing the problems that are thrown at them together. This novel throws you into the mash of difficulties and challenges of a world that has gone to shit, and yet you can't stop reading and hoping for a new and better tomorrow beyond the horizon, just like the two lovable main characters.

I picked up this novel randomly in a bookstore without expecting much out of it, but I cannot stress how exciting (and sometimes depressing) it was to read through this rollercoaster of a story, adventuring through an apocalyptic world with the main characters. It was an unforgettable blast and I can't express in words just how much I loved this book. It hits you in the feels when it decides to be sad, it gives you endearing and pining moments that are to die for, it keeps you on your toes when tension rises. Really, it had everything, and I was constantly struggling to put it down as I wanted nothing more than to continue reading and see where the book ends.

Both the characters and the plot itself were wonderful, and every second was a flurry of emotions as the characters hope for a happy ending to their horrible situation. A lovely read that left me teary by the end.

THIS WAS EVERYTHING!!!!!! i am slowly realizing i'm a fan of postapocalyptic fiction with a romance subplot, and this one delivered. i was so invested that i finished the audiobook in less than 24 hours. there were constantly scenes that had me on the edge of my seat and my heart racing because it felt like i was watching it on the screen. i would 1000% support this being adapted for tv!!!

Bref parfait. Surtout après avoir vu TLOU

I absolutely loved this book. It was so sweet, even in the darkest parts I still felt hope for the characters and for humanity.

This book was ... wow. It was so raw and gentle and tender and gutting. It was sad and brutal and soft all at once, and so many of the topics and themes were almost a little too close to home, given the past three years.
Normally I don't love the whole "I have feelings but I can't tell him!" trope, but this book did it right. Instead of dancing around how they actually felt, they just got closer to each other and loved each other for the bulk of the story. Even though secrets were being kept, it didn't feel like the world was going to end when they were unveiled. They were still able to love each other and be so tender and gentle with each other, even though they hadn't explicitly stated their feelings yet. And that made me love every part of their relationship. (Though I could have done without Andrew's automatic assumption that Jamie was straight. Like, come on, my dude.)
The only reason this isn't getting five stars is due to the writing. It felt jerky and halting at times, and was sometimes hard to get into as a result. I almost didn't give the book a chance due to how choppy it felt, as I was worried I wouldn't be able to get into it. Yet I still managed to sit down with this book and read it cover to cover in one sitting.
So I definitely recommend this, if you'd like to be swept away by sad, heartfelt end of the world romance for a while.
