As I slowly make it down my never ending TBR I finally got to Scarlet and I’m so happy I did.

I think I enjoyed this book even a little more than Cinder and I already loved Cinder.

I just love this mix and perfect blend of traditional fairy-tale with SiFi that Meyer has created here with the Lunar Chronicles. This book takes of shortly after we left off with Cinder and we meet Scarlet and Wolf, their traditional counterparts are from Red Riding Hood.

I really enjoyed Scarlet, she was feisty, brave, strong so much more and wouldn’t give up, but she also had her vulnerable moments that made her even more likable.

Wolf on the other hand was not necessarily one of my favorites but I also didn’t not like him. He was just somewhere in the middle. Both of them together overall I enjoyed a lot but thought it was 0 too 100 in a short time but . But I can overlook that pretty easy in this case.

We also meet up with Cinder again who teams up with Thorne who by the way became my favorite Character so far, is just really funny fast think and yeah a heartthrob but he smugly knows it.

Him and Cinder bickering was just the best but they also worked well with each other.

And let’s not forget Iko who makes a comeback in a weird but oddly fitting way, I’m curious to see how it will change if it ever does, but I think it will.

Kai, was all left on his own and I kind of felt bad for him, he was trying to do the best thing and really was trying to do what is best for his people and he is paying the price.

We also learn more about Levina and the Lunas , their background , magic and what they want.

Overall a great second installment in the series and I can’t wait to read the next book and see how it all comes together even more.

I rate this book 4 ★

Okay so I actually loved this one more than Cinder 🤭. I’d actually forgotten something that happened during this book and I like actually got so mad about it. I love Scar and Wolf. I love them so much 🥹. I’m gonna keep this review short as well. I gave it 4.75/5 stars and I’m so excited to keep going!

whoops, accidentally read this in a day, ignoring two book club books and other library TBRs with more pressing due dates.

but dang, the Lunar Chronicles is fun and I can see why they got new covers because these original ones are giving me Twilight vibes (though that fits with early 2010s). Scarlet is a rougher heroine than Cinder (and I'm a bit curious about what happened to her mom). I definitely feel better informed coming in having read The Keeper and Glitches in [b:Stars Above|25689074|Stars Above (The Lunar Chronicles, #4.5)|Marissa Meyer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1472473049l/25689074._SY75_.jpg|45517469] before hand, especially The Keeper as it really fills in a lot about Scarlet's Grandmere.

Throne is a fun new addition who reminds me of the pirate king in the Grishaverse except a bit more Zaphod Beeblebroxy in his silliness. Looking forward to his development.

Only minor thing that bothers me is the whole alpha/omega pack dynamic thing because that's largely a biological misconception buuuuuut like, why am I complaining about fiction in a fiction work (heck, a whole romantasy subgenre is based on the premise).

Wow. Well this was really different from what I read before. Now don't get me wrong for giving it 3 stars but it's just that the book didn't grip as other books did. The story is great and the character are even greater (aside from the romance just like Cinder). Other than this I would still recommend it.

The world building and character building just is not there. It’s so disappointing

HOWEVER - very interesting and minimal plot holes! I really really liked scarlet and wolf. The unrealistic parts were a bit cringe but I’ll be damned if I’m not looking at tomatoes a little differently now.

I barely care about Cinder’s entire story line now. Literally forgot about Kai. Found myself rushing through their chapters to get back to the goods.

Wow I hate the mom lol

This series is enthralling. I am absolutely captivated. I read this book in one day!

I love the new characters, the adventure, the unravelling of Cinder's mysterious background, the pace, and the converging of our two storylines.
