❤️ this one is real good. Less trauma porn and more character work. Zombies as a threat again. Harrowing choices. Excellent full page illustrations. I’d read it before and seen it play out on the show and it is still incredible.

I've quite enjoyed seeing Carl's development over the series... So maybe I flipped through the next volume to see if someone is still alive or not.
An action-packed volume with lots of zombies and some changes to a few of the major characters. The last quarter of this installment is among the most thrilling of the series; while the focus has been on Rick, it's the rest of the main group that has to come together in order to guarantee the survival of all.
Ah yes, this is the volume I'd been waiting for: tightly paced, intriguing character development, and lots and lots of human vs. zombie action! I can appreciate the "humans are the real monster" vibe that Kirkman had been working for awhile, but it nice to be reminded that there are actual zombies out there and that they want to eat our brains. Hoping that we can ride this excellent wave for a few more books....
The Walker assault on Alexandria happens and chaos reins. So crazy. Very much like the show.
I think this one suffered due to me waiting too long between books to read it. I lost track of some of the newer characters, so some tragic events did not have emotional impact. The story jumped quickly and awkwardly from scene to scene, I had to read quite slowly to follow events. High danger and high (undead) body count, and a beloved character is gravely wounded near the end, so a cliffhanger ending.

OMG!!!!!!!
I can never actually do reviews on these because they are so many ways to accidentally reveal a spoiler, but I will say that THIS one had my jaw dropping so many damn times!
AMAZING series..and I'm extremely annoyed that none of the libraries in my system carry the next book!
I may have to break a personal rule, and actually purchase it.
IT's THAT GOOD!

This was awesome. Seriously.

I loved almost everything of it. I'm not going to spoil anything for those of you who haven't read it or haven't watched the show up until 6x09 either, but it's the biggest fight in TWD yet. And that is saying something.

An improvement - they had gotten into a rut of basic plot of "meet people, can we trust them?, turns out no, kill them all, keep moving on". This one, we finally see them joining into a cohesive group and there might be hope.
