I much prefer the Flesh & Fire over Blood &Ash series so I was very excited for this book! The problem I’ve run into with fantasy nowadays is that about a fourth to a third of the book is just build up and nothing happens. Don’t get me wrong, I love 700+ books but this could’ve been shortened way down since all the plot happens from halfway on. Still a pretty good conclusion for this part of the series and LOVE Sera and Nyktos!!

Well... **spoilers below**

This was good, but not at all what I was expecting which is on me. I had hoped for some time spend with our favs after the twins entered the picture. I guess it feels like, while I know the outline of what happens there could be a whole other book about that period which I kind of expected half of this to be.

Also, I can't believe that this entire series until this book takes place over just a handful of weeks, that does not track at all in my brain but we'll see on a reread if that is more obvious. Also I didn't cry once which was a surprise.

I think JLA has been accused of adding a lot of filler to books, and this one is still kind of that. The plot itself is not realistically advanced that much and while I'll take allllllllllll the filler with these characters becasue I love them, I would have loved some additional stuff.

That moment when you complete a series and feel empty inside.

5 ⭐️ I will read and re-read this series many times over the years because it’s so good. This final book really was perfect. I laughed and cried and got angry and wanted to murder some of the characters myself. Absolutely brilliant. Give me 14 more of them right now.

it was SO GOOD but i lowkey hate the ending

So much hype for a book that was less than impressive...

I have been a big fan of J.A's books but I felt like she really backtracked to something completely different with this one.

With the first 28 chapters being basically just sex, it got real old, real fast. If not for my friend who read farther than me, I would have DNF'd this book. Sera couldn't even take a breath with Ash wanting to be inside her. Eats a strawberry, sex... Walks from the bed, sex... Wakes up nauseous, sex.... Like come on...

Don't even get me started on the fact that Sera was no longer a badass in this book. The stab first ask questions later kinda girl .. I get she was recovering from being kidnapped but damn... She can't even make a decision without thinking "well what would Nyktos say??" Like girl... You're the true primal of life... Pull up the big primal pants and make decisions.

Finally... I liked when things finally started to happen, but the way everything was written felt to YA. Like where did the regular good banter go? I read J.A's books to not get the YA banter, yet was bombarded with this book. Like it was so cringe THE WHOLE BOOK! And I get it, Nyktos loves seta but does he have to be hard every two seconds????????? Also waiting 53 chapters to finally realize shes pregnant... I knew from like 2 seconds into the book...

Idk the whole thing just felt really poorly done .. I just hope this doesn't carry over to the FBAA series or I will scream

Now positives:
I love the connection of this book to the main FBAA series. For instance sotoria being poppy. I love that and reading about all of that. However, we didn't get that much until slightly in chapter 28 with the prophecy and then the end of the book.

Okay so, it's hard to review the last installment of a series because you want to say everything, yet you can't because spoilers, so I will try my best to keep this just objective and spoiler free.

Born of Blood and Ash begins right after the events of A Fire in the Flesh, we are privy to a new side of Sera and Ash, a more... should I say, domestic? Not like their lives could ever be domestic, but it is the best way I can think of to describe it.

If you read the first 6 chapters of the book, then you probably know what I mean and once you start reading the book, you'll sure see what I mean.

Side note... if you already read the first 6 chapters that JLA release then you will probably agree with me that... chapter 4 was feral.

Not saying there are no other feral chapters through out the book, but from chapter 4 I knew that every time they could, they would be ravishing each other and it would be feral. I was like, stay in the room you guys!

Not complaining though.

Something I can complain about is Kolis.

Kolis needs to go.

We know we hate him.

We know we need him out of their lives, so by default we know he is very much a present ghost.  I don't know how, but JLA made it so you can really feel Sera's hunted memories and how deeply he traumatized her through every word she wrote.

The way she went about describing how Sera has and is still dealing with her trauma must have been a hard process, but it was handled greatly (in my opinion.)

It wasn't glossed over, it wasn't put to the side, it is something she deals with, with it's ups and downs and it shows that it doesn't just go away, it takes time and she is slowly healing and that is okay.

So for Ash and Sera, entombing Kolis is very high up on the priority list, though they first need to come up with an efficient way to do it, which won't be easy.

We also have Sera learning about her Primal abilities and how they are developing. She is having a little bit of a hard time dealing with not only the changes that come with being a Primal, but also dealing with the fact that not long ago she was training to kill Ash and now she is married to him and both of them are trying to figure out a way to get rid of the true Primal of Death.

It is a bit much.

Thankfully she not only has a devoted husband who is ready to set fire to the rain and a group of allies that are ready to end Kolis and finally put an end to his reign.

I cannot say enough about the characters around Sera and Ash, specially Nektas and Attes. Both characters bring so much heart to the story, they are devoted and they just make the story so much better. Their sarcasm is on the next level and I loved it!

Armentrout did a great job bridging the Flesh and Fire series with the Blood and Ash series. It was a hard task because of what we started with and how the last book of that series ended, but honestly she set it up perfectly for what is to come in the next two books of the Blood and Ash series.

The conclusion of Sera and Nyktos' story is filled with so much of everything, love, learning, pain, feral passionate moments, and kick ass action that you will not be disappointed with the way Armentrout brough our favorite characters their version of a happy ending.

There are so many things I wish I could discuss with you guys, but sadly, I cannot because it would be spoilers!!!
