the last half of the book was good but so much of it was slow and unnecessary

This book brought me lots of mixed feelings, it was not the best of the series but the most mind blown and emotional book. This was also a book that focus about trauma, how we sometimes undermine our own traumatic experiences.

I can’t stop saying this enough times, Sera is the most humanised character ever, we see her struggles, her long last trauma, her new trauma, her anxiety, panic, all her insecurities and low self-esteem. She’s one of my favorite characters of all time. In this book she frustrated me a lot, she gave me mixed feelings, because for once i felt a lot of empathy for her, but i just wanted her to lay it all out so she could heal. Needed her to communicate more with the ones she trusted most.

This book was too slow paced at the beginning, it felt like things didn’t progressed. We knew some plots were and needed to happen, but they never came. And it started to get frustrating.

But on the other side, we have Nyktos and Sera, we have all the amazing side characters (kuddos to Bele and Attes that became my favorite side characters). We have daddy Nektas, and i fell in love with him all over again. We had Reaver-butt and baby Jadis. I loved with all my heart how Nyktos got very over dramatic and protective of Sera. I lived for it (and i was waiting for a certain plot to see him going tenfold 👀).

One thing that i loved and still love are the parallels between this prequel and Blood and Ash, the way we see them predict Poppy and what happened in the series of blood and ash, and what will happen, what Poppy became to be. And all the plot about Mierel’s bloodline. It was just mind blowing.

When this world ends i will be really emotional mess. The best characters and world building of all time.

I’m so sad to officially say goodbye to Sera and Ash and their inner circle. I have loved the entire cast of characters in this prequel series so friggin much. Having read FBAA, you know what the end of this prequel series leads to and sets up. Because of that- plot wise, nothing big happens in this book (aside from what we already expect to happen) but the lead up to that was fair game. I never knew which side characters would be safe.

This book is heavily character driven. It picks up right where book 3 left off and we see Sera struggle to navigate her trauma and new life. And we learn just how deep that trauma actually goes.

The tie-ins with FBAA were great. We were given a good outline of how we get from Sera to Poppy-setting up the final FBAA book perfectly. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll see more or Sera, Ash, and their gang in that final book.

I think this was probably the best conclusion of the story I could have asked for (I mean besides the whole pregnancy troupe that I knew was inevitable based on the FBAA series)
I do kind of wish we got to see the birth of the boys and maybe a cute little epilogue of them playing with Jadis and Reaver but I understand why we didn't.
I love this series so much and I just find Sera to be a much more well rounded character than Poppy, even though I will say they are copy and paste characters of one another
But duh they are from the same family line of Sotoria so this is on purpose
I just love Sera more than I love poppy. I am so curious to see how FBAA ends and how Sera ties into the story, but JLA for the love of all Iliseeum, PLEASE GIVE ME A REAVER SPINOFF SERIES.
