DID NOT FINISH: 15%

Flesh and Fire is one of my absolute favorite series. As a trilogy.
I could not believe how painful this book was to try and get into because I am full throttle for Sera and Ash. But it’s like reading JLA’s stream of consciousness for the connections between their story and Poppy’s;  unnecessary and mind-numbing. Maybe I’ll finish it one day. Probably not.

The final 25% was pretty good.. the rest? Absolutely bored me to tears, so much so that at this point I can't even put a coherent thought together about it. 3 stats because the last 10% held it together and despite its flaws I'm still obsessed with Nyktos and Sera and the entire flesh and fire and blood and ash series.

Unfortunately, but not unsurprising, I didn't enjoy Born from Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This is a very disappointing series finale. The characters, who I didn't enjoy in the first place, made themselves insufferable and boring. The writing feels repetitive and the first 70% is incredibly boring. I zoned out a lot, because that was possible. This book could have been at least 400 pages shorter as it would make this story more njoyable. I will finish the "Blood and Ash" series though, but I hope that won't become such a disappointment either.

Quite frankly a disappointing end to a series that I had greatly loved

What in the world was this? I'm so upset. Something really happened with the editing because suddenly the centuries or millennia old gods are talking in modern slang, and the characters feel so much more juvenile than before. Also these four books take place over the span of like four months?? With the exception for the last two chapters in this one, which skip to
the end of Sera's pregnancy and then write a cute lil summary of the next couple hundred years.
Most of this book could've been shaved down by at least half. The most interesting and important things happen in the last 20%. There are so many unanswered questions, things that would have been far more interesting to read about and don't even get me started on the smut in this book. They're f***ing in the most inappropriate moments and the kisses are "starved" and "devouring" every single time. I read smut, a lot of it, but good gods these two were disturbingly horny the whole time and not even remotely reasonable or responsible enough. They were like two teenagers and that ruined the characters - whom I previously loved, mind you - in a big way. It takes away from their bond, the intended romance and devotion, when all they think about is how hot and mouthwatering the other is. Can you tell I'm pissed? Because I am. The potential is there and I would give a lot to go back and have someone edit the hell out of these books. One star for the couple chapters that were enjoyable.
