I’ve been a huge fan of the Flesh and Fire series (more than Blood and Ash), but this finale was a bummer. The beginning of the book dragggs as Sera narrates her thoughts and convos without ever leaving her room. When we finally moved on I was excited for the big reveals and connection to the sequel series, but it never came. Instead there are a few pages at the end that span the gap in a quick narration. I love the characters and the story, but what a major letdown. No finale should feel like it could be skipped.

There were definitely large chunks where I wondered - did anyone edit this? And sometimes it felt like absolute stream of consciousness writing. But aside from that there was actually some interesting character and plot development, so extra points honestly because that's a wild combination.

I think I finally hit my limit with JLA. I really wanted to finish out the series, but I was never looking forward to picking this up and when I would, I found myself skimming to just get through the tedium.

I love this prequel series but this was just not what I wanted/expected from this book... it was very slow alot of waiting around with the characters when I expected more war fighting and battles happening... alot of repetitive smut scenes with same verbiage it just got old... the last 10 chapters picked up and gave me what I wanted but 700+ pages I felt like nothing happened.. so disappointed 😞 excited for the next poppy book though!
