I love this prequel series but this was just not what I wanted/expected from this book... it was very slow alot of waiting around with the characters when I expected more war fighting and battles happening... alot of repetitive smut scenes with same verbiage it just got old... the last 10 chapters picked up and gave me what I wanted but 700+ pages I felt like nothing happened.. so disappointed 😞 excited for the next poppy book though!

Absolutely loved the ending of this series! The first half of the book did drag a lot imo but the second half made up for it.

I really liked this book. I think the hard thing about writing a prequel series that takes place thousands of years before the main series but also technically somehow a little bit at the same time. I think JLA does a good job at building some suspense to the final climax despite all of us already knowing how Sera and Ash’s story is supposed to end to reach current day.
And as much as I love Sera and Ash, and think this book in particular needed most of the length it has, I wouldn’t say I agree that the series needed to be as long as it was (at least in terms of page length). I think it often led to some irritation at Sera’s thoughts because it could feel very repetitive at times, and is mainly why this wasn’t a 5 star read. That being said, I enjoyed the book and can’t wait for 2025!

I can’t believe we’re done the Nyktos and Sera main story😭😭going to miss those horny devils so much

There was a LOT going on in this book (and I’m not sure I 100% followed it all) but JLA did a good job of tying it all together. I do wish there had been less sitting around and talking. This book could easily have been 200 pages shorter if the same discussion about the plan to take down Kolis hadn’t happened like six times.

Going to have to go reread the end of TWOTQ and ASOAAB to jog my memory and then I am READY for The Primal of Blood and Bone.

POV: single first person, three chapters third person POV
