honestly, fantasy lately for me has been kind of mediocre BUT THIS? this was fantastic. i loved it very much
this book is a good example of a good plot with bad writing, the prose doesn't really match the book and what was trying to achieve if this makes sense. if you enjoy fantasy and you don't mind cringy dialogue and poor writing you're probably going to enjoy this more than i have. 3.5 stars
Really enjoyed this book. Took a long time reading it and savored every word. The back and forth between perspectives so many years apart took a minute to get into the swing of but once I got it I really liked how it was broken up. Sun or Blood, both queens were intriguing and complex. At times I both liked and disliked each of them, and I think that is what I liked most. They were real fallible characters. Looking forward to more of Legrand's work and the rest of this series in the future.
I liked the book overall. I loved Eliana and her brother Remy. I also thought Simon was super awesome and I want to know more. I hated Rielle but loved Audric and Ludivine. I don’t know about the Archon still I don’t think I ever truly understood his purpose? Is he some kind of Pope in this religion or something?? I think the book was very well written with a couple questions that I still have but I also think the book should have had more info built in. I kind of felt that it dragged on a little bit. I would like to read and learn what happens next in the next book of the series.
This book was great! At first, the start was slow but that's how I personally always feel about split POV'S but, once I began to adjust the book was absolutely fabulous and everything I want my YA Fantasy books to be! Filled with twists and turns, it kept me guessing the entire way through which made the reading experience so enjoyable.
I have SO many questions and I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book - aghhh!!

OMG! This book is amazing. It has been all I can think about. It is a long book at 500 pages but well worth it. I was taken into Rielles and Elianas worlds centuries apart and I didn't want to leave. I felt myself drawn more to Rielle in this story though. This book put my life on hold, I devoured it in two days. A real page turner that will open your imagination.
