ok this book was kind of hard to get into but I’m thoroughly obsessed with it now and cannot start the next one quickly enough

For some reason I care more about Eliana. I enjoyed the story and the little plot twist.

Furyborn is everything I want in a book. It is high fantasy with a large focus on worldbuilding, there is so much character development, there is a bit of romance - more than your average fantasy, but less than most romantasy books. We have a very unlikable FMC, and I mean that in the best of ways. When it comes to storytelling, I will die on the hill that an author does not owe you a likable character, they owe you an INTERESTING one, and Furyborn delivers this.

Some quick bullet points of things I love:
- Unlikable FMC - she's not always unlikable, but you can see her pushing the limits of what she maybe should and shouldn't be doing little by little. And that's the point!
- An almost Lasher-like connection with another being (for those of you who have read the Mayfair Witches books by Anne Rice)
- A complicated love story - not quite a love triangle, but characters that are really battling with an interesting dynamic
- A truly powerful set of FMCs
- An amazing prologue that leaves you foaming at the mouth to learn how we got here. You have a hint of how one of aspect of the story ends, and now I'm desperate to find out the steps that led us here
- Several broody characters

As a reader, I struggle to read only one book at a time, and I struggle even more to go immediately into the next book in a series without taking a break. It's why I have so many unfinished series, it's my curse. Once I finished Furyborn, however, I immediately began book 2. I read a lot of fantasy, a lot of romance, a lot of romantasy, and all the combinations in-between, and it has been a long time since something sucked me in like this.

Nope.
DNF.
Just not interested.

Boring

A lot of world building but not a lot of plot. I can’t help but compare to SJM series’
