Good read, well constructed. Some good old anachronistic sexism & racism. Was mostly reading to compare with the BBC series. This was much more cleverly constructed — I didn't guess the murderer, but had to take my hat off to Ms Christie for having laid all the clues there (though there were a couple of incidents which really stretch credulity). All that said, I think as written it would have been a slightly dull tv show. Soooo... let's call that one a draw.

Great stand alone mystery
This is one of Agatha Christie's stand alone mysteries and one of my favorites. A murder had occurred in the family earlier with an easy solution. When they find out that solution was wrong, the ordeal of the innocent members of the family begins. But who is innocent?

Not sure I understand why this was one of Agatha's favorite mysteries. It was good but didn't have the wow factor of some of her others. It does pose the interesting question of how does not being able to prove who the guilty party is impact the innocent people involved. Felt like there was quite a bit of repetition with the same conversation being had over and over again.

A lot for me to think about in this murder mystery. Five adults, all adopted as children- and now one of them has killed their mother with a fireplace poker. But who? Hmm…
Not a great mystery, but an interesting exploration of what happens when the obvious and convicted person (who honestly no one really liked) turns out not to have been the murderer.

A solid murder mystery, taking place after the murder has ostensibly been solved and the "murderer" arrested. New evidence throws everything into disarray and the family of murderer and murderee are left pointing fingers at each other as suspicions abound.
