Although I loved these characters and this book started off so strong and was so good until the ending it was a horrible ending and I’m completely disappointed. This is the first one of Agatha Christie where I am puzzled by the lack of mystery.
It's never taken me so long to work through a mystery written by Agatha Christie. Instead of the compelling motives and intricate plot that I have come to expect, this story offered a drawn out re-telling of the admittedly intriguing premise over and over again as the main character pieced together the murder through his questionings of each suspect. I have no right to criticize one of the best, but it would have been nice to walk through this plot at a much faster pace.

This book did not strike as one of Agatha Christie's best efforts. The main substance of the book was the psychological toll on children when their mother is overly possessive. She also explored the theme of nature vs. nurture. I did not find it enjoyable. The mystery was a classic closed door mystery where almost everyone had a motive. Despite the red herrings I was able to deduce the murderer and most of why the murder occurred.
How can I go on living here and suspecting everybody?

I've read many of Christie's books, and loved them all. It's no surprise to me that she is outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare.
Ordeal by Innocence is less her usual mystery and more a psychological drama centered around the murder of Rachel Argyle - the suspected murderer has been cleared after two years. The only trouble is, he died in prison, and whoever really killed Mrs. Argyle is still walking free. Much worse, it was someone in the immediate family. Everyone suspects everyone.
As far as Christie novels go, in my opinion, it wasn't her best. Compared to mystery novels from other authors it holds up a bit better.
Currently watching the miniseries and agonizing over all the changes they made and how they ruined the characters.

Another fun mystery from Agatha Christie. I appreciated the detective in this one, Mr. Calgary - who thinks he is doing a great thing and letting a family know that their convicted son did not commit the murder he died in prison over....however, he's surprised when they are less than thrilled.
I also loved that Philip was an additional set of eyes that was trying to solve the mystery of who killed their adoptive mother. I have to admit, I had the wrong person for.....most of the book. I love being fooled and shocked by who the killer was.
I can't wait to watch this one!
