I found the premise of a scientist that had developed a way to predict the future to be oddly more ridiculous than most science fiction miracles, but Asimov's head for politics and intrigue kept the story engaging.

Finished the final book! Super excited that I was able to figure out the final riddle and foresee the twist. Great book series. The First one is a little rough just because there aren't any characters to latch onto through its entirety. The Second is an improvement on that and gives us a new mystery to solve. The final book really brings it all together and fixes the issues of the first one. Had a great time!
Looking back, the series is very harsh towards women (if and when they exist) and I realize how little fo the novel stayed with me.

A-mazing. This is a revisit. Some of my favorite sci-fi. A must for fans of space operas.
Far from the “must-read” classic that it’s touted as being.
Extremely lacking in characterisation, unnatural sounding dialogue and the setup of it being a historical record from the “Foundational Era” negates any sense of jeopardy in “The Hari Seldon Plan”. Essentially, there’s no risk that The Foundation won’t succeed and you don’t care about any of the people involved.
It’s a novel that is purely focused on the concept and not the storytelling. In effect, it is entirely like it’s own concept of ‘psychohistory’; it only works with the grand design and can’t handle individuals.
One of the few occasions where I can say that the TV adaptation is better than the book
