NONFICTION

Lauren Conrad has always been a fashion icon, but now she is a business woman. She is launching new clothing styles and is becoming very successful. In her book, she gives advice on style from the 5 must-haves in your closet to make-up to how to pose for the camera. to what to wear for a job interview. She covers all spectrums of style, not just what you can wear. Seeing her in the media and how she always looks so perfect, makes a reader want to pick up her book to see how she does it. I felt like she wrote for multiple audiences, not just other wealthy girls in the spot light. She teaches how to organize your closet and make the most out of what you have. She writes for girls like me, who are just trying to pay rent, but still look well put together. Her book makes you want to look better, but that turns into feeling better. It is not a superficial book that is only based on your looks, but a book that helps bring out your own style and showcase who you are.

Lauren Conrad was everywhere when I was in junior high and high school. Every girl wanted to be her. She had what seemed like a glamorous life, and she was on her own TV show. I really thought of her as someone real, and I've always admired her, even to this day. I even buy some pieces from her Kohl's fashion line because they are cute and affordable. I can even wear them to work and still feel professional.

When I found this book for $8 at a discount store, I grabbed it. I could always use a little help when it comes to fashion and style. I'm not afraid to admit it. Sometimes, I just put some whacky stuff together. Sometimes, I just don't know what kind of accessories to wear with dresses to make it feel like a complete outfit.

What I liked about the book:
It is a very easy read. I'm sure that it is probably written at a sixth grade level.
Lauren Conrad makes you feel like she is your best friend with her writing style.
She really does have some helpful advice.

What I didn't like about the book:
She uses the phrase "rule of thumb."
There isn't enough information to help people of other shapes and sizes with their style choices.
I felt like there is not enough information in the book. I've seen much of it before in magazines, so that disappointed me.

But it was a good book, and I will probably pick up Beauty when I find it in paperback, if it ever comes out in paperback.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book, I bought it because I liked Lauren on The Hills, and the book was on sale. However, this is actually a really fun, down-to-Earth guide about style, and more imporantly, YOUR style, not Lauren's. I also liked the way it's been tweaked for UK readers, with the prices. If you liked Lauren on the show, definitely get this book because she retains her relaxed, friendly style and this book could prove a useful go-to source if you're having a fashion dilemma.

So cute! I just love Lauren though, so I am totally biased. I'd probably buy anything she does.

Literally everything in this book was simply common sense. You honestly must really be lacking personal style if you find this book helpful.

I have mixed feelings about this book, mostly because it tries to cover a lot of concepts using photos and there isn't much substance beyond the aesthetic aspects. On the other hand, the photography is beautiful.

I adore Lauren Conrad as a person. I actually respect her fashion and writing career.

I am probably the only one who enjoyed the L.A Candy series because I never watched her reality show. Oh well.

When I knew Lauren Conrad wrote another book about fashion, I was excited because she is one of the most simple and fashionable person in Hollywood.

I didn;t expect much from this book nevertheless still enjoy and learned something from it :)

Time to go shopping I guess.

I received this book as a Christmas present and I read the entire thing the day after Christmas. I liked it a lot and yes some of the things were commons sense, but there were a lot of good tips in there. If you have a teenage daughter about to entire college I would suggest this book.
