I love Artemis Fowl. I used to live for this series.
So when I found out that there was a new graphic novel adaptation of the first novel, I knew I had to have it. The cover, also, is gorgeous. I love the shiny silver lettering - it really reminds me of the OG series covers with the bright silvers and golds and shiny titles.
Even better than the previous adaptation, this is a wonderful comic. I love the art style; it was really fun to look at. The color palette was also very well done. I especially liked Holly's design in this one!
Moreci did a really nice job on the story adaptation. The pacing felt very similar to the original and the gentle nods to more current things (like Netflix and "the Google machine") were slipped in comfortably.
Artemis Fowl is just a story that really lends itself to adaptation done right. (Yes, I'm looking at you movie that I refuse to see.) It's a really fun story with some interesting and morally gray characters who are still easy to root for. The stakes are very real, but it's still approachable for younger readers and such an interesting look at Irish and fairy folklore.

Uma vida depois... Finalmente sentei e li.
É ok, mas minhas expectativas foram frustradas.
Não tenho vontade de continuar com os outros. :/

I loved the Artemis Fowl books when I was younger and wanted to relive the nostalgia in a brief manner - and this graphic novel was perfect for that.
Fans of the Artemis Fowl series will recognize the basic plot of the first novel in this beautifully drawn graphic adaptation.
Artemis, a twelve year old criminal mastermind, holds a fairy for ransom in exchange for a pile of LEP gold.

the art was decent and the story line was okay. I read this to see if my son might like it but o have a feeling we need to try the real books vs the graphic novels.
I thought I disliked this because I don't like graphic novels in general. Reading other peoples' reviews, I gathered that I wasn't the only one.
First of all, none of the characters looked how I pictured them. Second of all, there was way more text than I thought there should be. And, lastly, some of my favorite bits from the story were skimmed over or left out in this book (which is saying something, since this was basically copied directly).
I love Artemis Fowl, but I wouldn't recommend this version.

Great character portrayal! Loved Holly's ears! I haven't read the novels but this made me want to.
I was intrigued by the anti-hero premise, but this book was a “meh” read for me. I haven’t read the novels but I think this adaptation was missing the backstory and worldbuilding that would make a story like this work. All white human/humanoid characters. F & P Level Y.
