It has been a while since I read the first one, so I had a hard time keeping all the children and their abilities straight. Especially Hugh and Horace. The H's got me, LOL. This is typical of a second book in a trilogy. A lot of wandering, a lot of talking, and a lot of buildup to what will be the finale. It is interesting to see the children start to grow into themselves and their abilities. I do not like Enoch, but the rest of the kids seem sweet. Millard is probably my favorite, but that is probably because he is the mischievous nerd.
I think it will be interesting to read the third book, but this one really is just a bridge between the beginning and the end. I like Ransom Rigg's creativity, but I do wish this had been a little less "typical second book".

Meh - not nearly as good as the first book in the series, which I rated at five stars. Not sure I will bother with the next.
Words cannot describe how spectacular this book was. I was so amazed and impressed by how well written it was and how well it captured me into the time loop that i could not put it down as soon i started reading some more today. I picked up where i left off today on chapter 8 or 9 i believe and read on my to barnes and noble and on the way back. Of course i picked up the 3rd copy, but wow i was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was feeling calm at first and then more and more excited as i read on. I loved how they were able to visit more loops and that we got to read more stories from the tales of the peculiar and the other peculiar children we were able to meet along the way. It was so fantastic. After i finished reading this moment i felt like i myself was stuck in a time loop of pure bliss and could not think or say anything, but fuuuuuuuuuccckkk. Pardon ze word. This was truly amazing and i am glad such an amazing story exists and that a movie is being made. I do hope it lives up to how perfect the book is though. Nonetheless this is still one of the best books i have ever read in my life and would recommend this to everyone. I already got my best friend hooked on it :D
This series does not disappoint and has left me wanting to know more and more!

This book was very different from the first and lacked that fun peculiarity of the first one that made it unique. It seemed like this one tried too hard to continue with the oddities and fell flat with not knowing if it was trying to come up with new ideas or recycle old ones.
This series is clearly in its way to be one of my favourite!
I need to get my hands on the next book! Love this series!!!
Better than the first one, I'm looking forward to the next.
