This book picks up right where the first book ended. I found it difficult to get back into this series though because while the author has a brief list of characters and what they do, it had been so long since I had read the first book that it took me a while to remember who everyone was and how they related to Jacob. However once I got back into it, the book was a page turner and I would be reading the third book right away if it had already been published. I am not sure if I will get to the third book or not since it took so long to get back into this one.
I am finding this series delightfully entertaining. The author has a very creative imagination and throughout the book has incorporated multiple old type photographs that add to the enjoyment of the read. In this second book we find our group of Peculiar children embarking on an adventure to save Miss Peregrine from losing her human like qualities. Plenty of intense moments, lots of evils and twists of fate along the way. Fantasy writing takes us out of the realm of reality and into a world where anything is possible.
Oh my goodness. It kept building & building and the very last page was straight goosebumps up my arms. I can't wait to read the next one & find out what happens!
It got so incredibly boring there was so much repetition and none of the characters were interesting
I enjoyed Hollow City so much more than the first book. The kind-of-creepy vibe that I had expected from the first book only reached me throughout the second one and I'm so glad. I loved all the children so much and how each one of them got his time to shine! they're all very realistic (not talking about their peculiarity, of course) and well-written. I have been a little busy while reading this book so whenever I had the time to pick it up and read again, my eyes would be glued to the pages lol
