This more a 3.5 stars but you can’t have half scores on here. So this book picks with the children leaving the island with miss peregrine stuck and them trying to find a solution. Again a bit slow to get going but once we have been to the menagerie and met the peculiar animals it starts to pick up. I loved how this story unfolds with the different characters we see and Hugh is becoming my fast favourite with his bees. I have to say I won’t look at pigeons the same way again! I found this an enjoyable and easy read and looking forward to getting stuck into the third one to find out how it all ends.
I really enjoyed this book even though it was more of a progression novel than a standalone. You know, one of those stories which is written to get to the finale. The mix of found photographs meshed with the story is a wonderful concept and it was a good journey. If you have not read any Ransom Riggs then read Miss Peregrines home for Peculiar children - it really is a work of the fantastic.
I liked it more than the first one! really kept my interest.

A rollicking reading adventure!
Time travel, monster chases, talking animals, bravery, and heroism stoked the fires of my imagination and kept me engrossed in the story. There were many surprises and twists that I didn't see coming. I loved that. I can't wait to start reading the 3rd novel in the series.
