Great read. Lots of plot twists, and a volleying between his and hers perspectives. Definitely left with questions and wondering how Bram's last attempt at redemption will work considering he's not in London and they are blaming Mike's death on Bram. Can't be in two places at once?
I read this because I really wanted to watch the ITV drama and I am so glad I did. The TV version was great but only because the book was so damn good!
A great concept for a book, one that I didn’t even know was a thing, now I am wondering if I could sell my husbands house from under him! I am of course joking… I love our house too much to sell it!
The characters and their reactions were completely believable and it kept me guessing all the way through.

Our House Louise Candlish
4.5 out of 5.
Waterstones Book of the Month this book was everywhere on social media, so I thought I would give it a go.
The story starts with Fi returning to her exclusive house in London and finds that there is a new couple moving in and they are convinced that they have bought it legally from Fi and husband Bram.
Fi and her husband are separated but living together for the sake of the children, Fi has been away for the weekend with a new man and comes home to find out that her husband and her children Harry and Leo are nowhere to be seen and her home sold.
The book then is written from the point of view of Fiona who is retelling her story to a crime podcast and Bram who is writing his story from his exile.
I liked how the book was set out and how it was recounted from Bram’s side, which uncovers adultery, deceit, death and blackmail and violence which has meant Bram feels that he has no alternative but to run away from his family for good.
I felt sorry for Bram as he isn’t really a bad person he just loses his way and ends up on a path of self-destruction although at the time he doesn’t realise it.
The book takes a dramatic turn with Fi uncovering the depths of Bram’s action and also how she has been deceived on many levels.
I found it quite sad It was cleverly written and really kept me guessing all the way through and the ending is shocking.
If you love a fast-paced thriller you will love this.

I loved this, would have given 5 stars if not for how I didn’t understand why the blackmailers decided to pursue this. Obviously for money but they’d have to be waiting around for a very specific thing to occur. Unless I missed something. But LOVED.
I Loved it! I loved the characters, the plot twists and the writing style.
I would highly recommend it.

A decent mystery/thriller trying to be a bit different, with mixed results. I'm not sure telling the story with the Podcast/Word Document device worked. The use of shifting P.O.V.'s and narrator's by changing chapters works because it doesn't break things up too much and cause the reader to lose track or be confused. But this book, in an effort to be different (it's boring to do the same thing, so I get wanting to shake it up), chose to create chapters that included a "podcast episode" to tell Fi's story, then a "word document" to tell Bram's story, then just a random insertion of text to bring us to the present actions, or present at that time. It was difficult to follow at first, and I never really got into a rhythm. The actual story is interesting enough to pull the reader through this, because we want to know what's going on! Still, it takes a lot of belief-suspending to get through it, and the book is honestly a lot longer than necessary for this kind of tale. I never quite got the why's of Bram (would anyone do what he did, honestly?).
The premise of Our House is intriguing...imagine returning home after work and finding people you don't know moving into your house. The twists and turns from there were engaging although this did drag a bit. I was screaming internally at the ending...oh my goodness! Entertaining thriller that I would recommend to others.

This was the first book I have read by this author, but it will certainly not be my last. The overall pace of this book is quite slow, as the events take place over a short time period, but things are drawn out using flashbacks. In fact, it took me a few chapters to get straight in my mind what the time line of events were. I found the overall layout of the book slightly irritating, and was not a fan of Fi as a character. She seemed to me for most of the book a very unsubstantial person. Almost a push over, in that she was taken for a ride by her husband and also this new lover (Toby/Mike).
There’s a decent twist at the end of the book that I did not see coming. In fact, there was one character who ended up having a central role whom I completely skipped over - for some reason I saw her as an older woman not a young mother with kids similar to Fi.
I have to be honest that the format of this novel did not sit well with me at all. I found the majority of Fi’s narration boring and uninspired. I looked forward to Bram’s storyline far more.
The pace of the novel picked up considerably during the last couple of chapters and I was not expecting that ending at all. Bram showed he had a bit of back bone after all. I wholeheartedly recommend this read to others.

I feel like I need to explain this particular five-star rating. Here's the thing: I really like terrible people in the books I read. I particularly enjoy reading about them going through various trials, tribulations, even misfortune. Some of my favorite characters are terrible people, but I really enjoy reading about them.
As a result, this book was a treat for me. Almost everyone is a terrible person, but very convincingly written and, dare I say, compelling. We can all see that Bram is an absolute self-sabotaging mess of a person, but I still empathized with him a bit because he has so much remorse and loves his family deeply, so I found myself rooting for him a bit by the end despite myself. Fi is someone we've all met or known and I'll leave it at that.
I was engaged throughout the reading. This was like watching a train wreck unfold in slow motion and I couldn't look away. There were several plot points that most people could see coming a mile away, but still a few that surprised me as well.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was exactly the sort of quick, engaging read I imagine the average reader would enjoy. There's enough to talk about to make an engaging discussion out of the contents. Most importantly for me, the characters feel very authentic and fun to read about.
This book makes no pretensions to high literature. It's a story about a train wreck and does so in a very engaging and efficient way. Very enjoyable indeed!
