okay for an actual book i’d give it 2 stars BUT for a romcom book (comparing it to spanish love deception, kiss quotient, love hypothesis etc.) it’s a 4.

TBH! loved the couple.. actually shipped them like i never ship them in romcom books. ALSO actually a funny book!!! i laughed a lot not just out of cringe.

also i normally hate the male love interest (like adam carlsen and aaron blackford) but i kinda loved josh
however, this book had practically the exact same plot as every other booktok/bookstagram romcom book (seriously like i genuinely had to remind myself it was a diff book) but i think it’s like a better version of the popular booktok rom com enemies to lovers office romance guy falls first books!

there were so many moments that i was like wtf is happening this is so weird and unrealistic but that’s all romcom books

not bad but not good. go for it if you like light-hearted unserious romcoms (though tbh there are definitely better out there). I won't stop anyone or say no one would like it, but i certainly didn't and i wouldn't in good conscious seriously recommend it to anyone i know. I bought it impulsively because the book i wanted to buy wasn't in stock, and i regret doing that. I got through the first couple of pages and then persevered to finish reading this book only because I regretted buying it and since i spent money on it, i was going to get my worth out of it. i didn't want it to sit there, taunting me. now it taunts me because i wasted my time on it. i thought  occasionally cute, but overall ridiculous. tell us again just how big what's-his-name is, please. turns out we need it to balance out the inordinate amount of time spent impressing upon readers just how tiny lucy is. evidently this book is not for me. severely disappointed in ever coming across it.

*i said it was fast-paced because i had to choose an option and don't particularly remember. i'm 12 books in to The Wheel of Time atm, do not trust my frame of reference for what constitutes a 'fast-paced' book

This is my guilty pleasure and I really hate admitting this. So growing up I always hated reading because school forced lame ass books on us and it was a chore to get through some of them. But two weeks ago I found myself in a Barnes and decided to just randomly buy a book and this one ended up getting purchased. I am honestly so grateful this was the first real book that I chose to read since high school (I just graduated college so it's been forever since I read a book that wasn't an assignment). It is so silly and cute that I instantly fell in love with it. Yes, it is formulaic and predictable at times but the simplicity of this romance is what warms my heart. A critique I have is how fast they started liking each other, I wish there was a little more hating. I totally get why people are meh on this book though.

Also, can we talk about how fast the movie moves compared to the book? I mean they fit everything in there but damn that was speedy also the ending??? Ok, this is a book review website and not a film review one but I felt it was necessary to mention that. Overall, I love this book, and its adorable. I really had a hard time putting it down.
