Trigger warnings: mentions of war.

Okay so despite being considered the first book in The Dukes of War series, this is essentially a prequel novella. It's barely a hundred pages (my Kindle said 146, but the last 20% or so was excerpts of some of the author's other books. And it was FINE - cute and fluffy and everything you could want in a Regency romance. But at the same time, I felt like I barely got to know the characters and the characters barely got to know each other before they were madly in love and engaged.

But, like, it was free and I definitely got my money's worth.

So, I know how bad that title sounds. I really do. But I took a pretty brain-draining final today so I completely justified picking it up free from Kindle. (If you ever want to know about compensation standards for legal expropriation in compliance with an international investment treaty I'm your woman. Except not because after a 4 hour test I never want to think about it again.)
It is very short, surprisingly clean, and actually quite fun (the novella, not the the subject of international investment law.) I think I'm adding a star for exceeded expectations. The romance was too rushed but genuine chemistry existed between the main couple. I wish it had been longer and more developed.

A fun novella. Lady Amelia's managing was are humorous, and poor Viscount Sheffield doesn't know what hit him. A novella with plot and characters that are fully

I love Erica's writing. This was a pleasant novella to read as a snack between novels.

This was way too short for me! I felt like I was just learning the characters and then it was the end. I would have definitely enjoyed another 100 pages :-)

Short, silly, predictable, entertaining. It feels like a much shorter story, although the print editions manage to be around 200 pages. Well plotted, believable characters, no big surprises. The ending feels a bit rushed. A little bit more build-up would have been nice. And maybe a twist or two. Good choice to get a glimpse into the series and to see, if you might like Ridley's writing for a bit of mindless Regency romance fluff.

Many thanks to the author for a copy of this book. All opinions are expressed voluntarily.

An entertaining novella from Erica Ridley, the Viscount’s Tempting Minx was like a tasty morsel that finished a bite too soon.

Amelia Pembroke has had years of practice micromanaging things and the opening scene itself gives us the level of problem handling she’s capable of. Well, no two words about it, she’s a steam roller and that character didn’t feel all that lovely to me. But the following scenes involving the organizing of the annual Christmas ball and getting thru all obstacles were easy to read and quite interesting. Being a novella, obviously, the romance feels sudden but on second thoughts it was perfect for this story. I would have loved to read more about the rakish ways of Viscount Sheffield.

There’s subtle dry humor in the dialogues being exchanged which gave me some smiles and chuckles and made it a thoroughly enjoyable story.
