This book was emotional and funny, The Last Five Years and One Day combined as well as just it’s own unique heart

I really liked the concept of this book, I thought it was a good premise of a book. I felt the characters relationships with their parents really interesting. I did feel some parts were kind of shoved in to add drama rather than fully explored and given the space they deserved.

Where to start... First I did really enjoy this book however it was just kinda sad the whole time. The main character has mental health issues that she is working on/dealing with the whole book. While it was great representation it was hard to read at times because the author wrote it so realistically and convincingly. However the references to being bisexual felt extremely forced and like they were just for show.

The reverse aspect was very interesting and almost fun in a way because something would be referenced that you didn't know about and then down the line you would learn the origin.

Overall it was an interesting concept and a "fun" read.

There's something about love stories that are just a love story. There are love stories about great, timeless loves that know no bounds, but there's something even better about love stories that end in full stops and unravel something more about the human experience of love and loving someone and being in love. This book captures so much of that human experience, and it bares all in the things one goes through and thinks when in (and out) of a romantic relationship.

Although reading the story in reverse was difficult to get a hang of at first, it made the whole story feel like a memory and contributed to the whole theme of experiencing love as opposed to succeeding or failing at it.

This book was beautiful and heartbreaking and so emotionally true. I wondered how it would pull off taking you through a relationship backwards, from messy breakup to romantic meeting, but wow Hazel Hayes did it so well. After finishing it I went back and reread the first chapter just to feel it all over again, and notice all the little things I now had so much more context for. Out of Love is all bittersweet nostalgia and new perspectives, and I loved it so much.
