I was hesitant to read this book at first. I stumbled upon this book on TikTok and after I watched Pauline's (aka @thebooksiveloved) video about this series, I knew I had to buy it. And let me tell you something....I absolutely LOVE this book. It is one of those books that you can't put down and I ended up reading half the book in one day. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
JLA is a genius and I think everyone should give this book a try.
Also, I love Roth

I wanted to love this book. Ive had it on my shelf for a few years and this weekend i finally read it. I dont know if it felt like we had so much back which i feel we needed more of and it didnt get intresting till the end. I will continue on with the story see how it goes
I had this sitting on my TBR list for a hot minute. I’m surprised it took me so long since I loved the Lux series by Armentrout. I saw it at the library and decided to pick it up and it didn’t disappoint me. I haven’t had read any books with a gargoyle theme before so I didn’t know what to expect. I liked the main character, Layla. She is a mix of gargoyle and demon which is basically good vs evil. She’s pining over a gargoyle that she can’t have and meets an attractive demon that she can actually be herself with. I have a feeling it’s going to be a love triangle in book two between Layla, Roth, and Zayne. I’m not sure but we will see. There was the right amount of action and romance.
I can’t wait to see what the next book brings!

White Hot Kiss is SO much fun. Layla — a half Warden half Demon — begins to unravel the mystery of her past while navigating her feelings for Zayne, a longtime Warden companion, and Roth, a demon.
JLA does an incredibly job bringing the unique plot of this story to life. She builds an intricate world with enough background to provide understanding, while not overwhelming the reader with details.
You might like this book if:
• You like the Romantasy genre
• You like when the MC has to figure out their romantic feelings for others
• You are looking for a fantasy world that’s different from any other!
Genre: Romantasy
Tropes: Love Triangle, Forbidden Love, Strong FMC

Okay but like what if I binged this entire series this weekend?
When JLA kept writing that the Wardens in their true forms were pretty:

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve read a JLA book and I forgot that her earlier works have a distinct type of voice lol. I think I definitely would have enjoyed this book way more in high school vs now, especially when I was obsessed with her Lux series (Roth reminded me a lot of Daemon!!). Despite the cringey writing style, White Hot Kiss was still a pretty fun book!
The plot and lore of WHK were definitely interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book about gargoyles before and it was fun to learn how they’re connected to Seraphim and Hell. Also, the slow burn romance omgg. I can definitely picture Ian Somehalder as Roth, especially in his super sassy and flirty moments hehe.
Dare I say this, but I actually liked the love triangle in this book?? I hate love triangles with a passion, but I thought it was executed well and avoided many of the cliches that surround love triangles in YA novels. I also found myself liking both Roth and Zayne, and the sides that they represented for Layla. You also get the two best tropes imo, the friend to lovers AND the enemies to lovers trope. LIKE IT'S THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS RIGHT HERE.
However, I was highkey annoyed with Layla throughout WHK. She’s super insecure, both about her appearance and her status as a half demon. She’s also constantly making dumb decisions to prove that she’s capable of protecting herself, and then ends up apologizing for her actions later when she realizes that she’s not.
All in all, WHK was definitely a fun and addicting read. I found myself staying up until 3 am last night because I wanted to just read one more chapter (I ended up reading 10 more chapters until I eventually knocked out lol). I’m super excited to get my hands on the rest of the series, especially after that explosive ending!

Modest belongs to losers. Something I am not.

“You need something,” he said, and when I stared at him, he added, “Your face.”
“My face?”
“It’s in need of my kisses.”

I loved this book for what it is. A teen harlequin. I'm not complaining. It perfectly filled my craving for a quick fluffy read!
Ok!!!!
This book started out with me saying "what did Paulina get me into?"
Then, I was like "BAMBI!!! Really???" (If you've read - you know). And, I then fell for the Crown

This is my first Jennifer L. Armentrout book. I have been putting her books on hold for so long expecially when I read a few chapters of Half Blood. That book reminded me so much of Vampire Academy so I stopped reading it, atleast for now.
