Wtf is the name of this book? Other than that, this is a fun and quick read. I wasn't new to this genre when I read this book but gargoyles is definitely something fresh and unexampled.

Double crap on a cracker the size of my butt.
I'll admit I wasn't entirely into it at first, wasn't overly feeling the characters but I've read several series by Jennifer so I persevered and I'm glad I did, I really got hooked in the end! I'm looking forward to reading the 2nd and 3rd book to see where it goes given it's a relatively short series (3 books and one novella).
3.5
I feel like this story was a copy and paste of the Lux series. Zayne and Roth were just Daemon split in half and Layla was Katy with white blond hair.
I can even remember some lines in this book from Obsidian like when Zayne tells Layla to run, it's almost like Daemon telling Katy to run in Obsidian from the Arum.
Why do the MC's always have to be saved by the guy and then they tell them the girl is weak and needs to stay at home while they do all the fighting???? Probably my biggest complaint about her books.
I love her writing style and the characters made me laugh so yeah I didn't hate it or love it.
I'm guessing I'm rooting for the wrong guy too. Great.

Eh. It was fine. It wasn’t my true love for a couple of reasons:
1. I’m too old.
It pains me to admit this. I think I’ve finally outgrown 17 year old narrators in high school. This is a sad day in my life.
2. It was driven by plot rather than characters.
Character-driven stories are my cup of tea. I love watching characters grow, relationships develop, etc. I grow bored much too quickly if it’s just plot, plot, plot. Which is what this one does. I find I can’t care about the plot if I don’t care about the characters. So, I was bored several times.
Will I read the next one?
Yes, but only because my book buddy is reading it. Can’t leave her hanging.

Idk, went back and forth between 3 and 4, so I guess 3.5⭐️
It’s good, and I enjoyed it, and I’ll read the next one. But also…some of the way it was written almost felt like it was trying to hard to be young? I know it’s a YA book, and I’m totally down for that, so… Also, I wanted Layla to have more confidence.

This was an outstanding start to a series. I'm already inlove with Layla and Roth, even zayne to be honest. The story is so cool. I have only read one series that had a gargoyle in it and it wasn't the main focus, so the "Wardens" are so interesting to me. It's new and exciting. I felt like this book took me right into the story, it hooked me right from the start. The way the book ended made me need to read book 2 immediately and I can't wait to see how Layla copes with what just happened and the development she went through. Roth is everything to me
