Rowling is a trash human. I got invested in this series before she started running her mouth and we knew so I check her books out of the library to minimize her financial gain. I refuse to review them. I read them secretly in my house out of shame. I considered not adding them to my “Read” list but I did actually read them so I added for accuracy.

Until I spent two and a half years homeless, I kept up with the adventures of Cormoran Strike. As a result, I missed the books Rowling published between 2016 and 2022. I'm glad I picked up her latest one because it kept me hooked, despite its mammoth 1000-page-plus length.
In The Ink Black Heart, Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott get hired to uncover the identity of an online troll.
As the story unfolds, you'll find yourself drawn into the world of fandom for a game that only exists in the pages of this book. This isn't a book you'll be in a hurry to put down.
If you like crime, J. K. Rowling, or gaming/pop culture, then you'll find this to be a fun read.

This mystery was difficult to get into- reading in-room chats between video game characters (for pages), following the cartoon (which I could never make sense of) and Robin and Strike's desire to be together, but continually at odds..... I think Galbraith is a good writer; this just isn't her best.

A real disappointment from JK Rowling. Too many characters, confusing narrative, and the long sections of online chat are almost unreadable.

Still a great read and makes progress in the characters relationships but isn't the best in the series. It feels like a bridge to get them where they need to be for the next plot in the series
