Great as all the others in the series. Loved that the author addressed the issue of internet hate. We can see prime examples in the review section as well! JK Rowling is a wonderful writer, Strike and Ellacott are the best detective duo, and Robin is my favourite book character ever ❤️ I'm already looking forward to the next one.
So David Shelley is her editor and he should be sent back to editing school!!!
I read parts 1-3 and part 5 Other than the fact it is way too long it is boring. I had no problem following what was happening.
I skipped all parts that were part of the game or texts or whatever you want to call them -why they were there I have no idea -artistic make it interesting to younger readers forget it; would have reduced the size of the book by a third have I said yet the book was too long!!
Mr Shelley needed to have her tighten up the story my God yes it was complicated yes that is how life is but pages and pages about who is watching whom and there we go all the suspects are back on the list take a red pen and Strike out half the book PLEASE!
I don't care how famous or successful someone is use the power you have and be truthful.
"Dear this doesn't work"
I really like this series but if I can not lift a book up to read it something has to happen before I will read the next.
If you are not going to read the book there will not be a problem because all the characters at the end of the book are in the same situation with each other as they were when the book began you will not have missed ANYTHING. Save the time for something you enjoy doing.

I'm gonna give it a 3.5.
Another audiobook I started with my dad on the way out to BC and we have finished it on the way back.
I feel like my review isn't as good as it could be because this one was hard to listen to and keep track of with all the online elements of it, usernames, tweets etc., it may have been better as a book read.

Formulaic. Tweets and game chat annoying, filler?
Not a fan of JK Rowling’s politics; wanted to judge this book myself. Not worth my time as a novel, politics aside.

First, let me say that I have loved the Cormoran Strike books and eagerly await each new release. The Ink Black Heart was no exception.
Second, I listened to this book...all 32+ hours of it. I listened while traveling from Omaha to Chicago and back again, while running errands between trips, and then most of the way from Omaha to Breckenridge Co., from there to Colorado Springs, and then back to Omaha, and still had 5 hours left to listen to. This book has so many characters that to keep them all straight one has to keep a list - which I did not do while driving. I totally lost interest in the plot but kept listening to see how the romance between Robin and Cormoran might progress (Spoiler alert: there is minuscule progress to report).
Though the narrator did a great job overall, I grew weary of listening to the chats between all the game players which included sign-in and signoff details. I couldn't keep straight who was who. Oh, the droning!!
Bottomline, a so-so tale to be read (NOT listened to) and only if you're willing to tackle a 1,400+ page book that should have been edited down by 400 pages or at least 10 listening hours.

Audiobook review
Narrator was amazing! Did quite well with the tweets, which could be hard to follow. So many characters, pen names, handles - got bogged down and confused at times
I was thoroughly invested in the story! Flew through 32 hours of narration!

I didn't know it's almost 1k pages, I just know it's a massive book.
First time I read this, I noticed the similarity with what Rowling experienced on Twitter, especially after her comment about trans women and women. And it's sad that people leave reviews because of their opinion on the author instead of the book.
Anyway, Ink Black Heart is okay-ish. I've somewhat suspected it midway, but the details got too interesting that it kept me reading. Mind you, Rowling is by no means close or equal with Keigo Higashino or similar thriller writers who could hide their perp well.
But overall, I enjoyed this book well, despite of the length. The details on Strike and Robbin's relationship somewhat put me off, but I like how personal Rowling made this one sounds like.
