Ah, I remember my first Agatha Christie - and first murder-mystery. Way back. Thirteen years old. First year in a new boarding school in teeny Bexhill-on-sea. Reading about a murderer working his/her way through the alphabet. "A" for poor Alice Asher in Andover, "B" for unlucky Betty Barnard in the little seaside town of.... wait, what?! Bexhill? Uh-uh. Shivers!

Now that was a thoroughly enthralling jaunt, with only a little bit of classism - as a treat. By far the best Poirot book I’ve read (my second book).

Enjoyable read. A murderer taunts an aging Poirot by sending him letters detailing the town and date of where and when each murder will take place. They are done alphabetically.

Hastings is Poirot’s sidekick once again. This was a fast read with a lot of dialogue. 4 stars.

I've never before read a Hercule Poirot mystery (only seen them on TV). In the beginning, as I read, I pictured M. Poirot as he appears in those shows but by the end I felt the TV series had miscast - I like M. Poirot in the books much better than the one on TV. But he did leave me feeling the need for a French dictionary.

while this wasn't as good as the previous two novels of christie's i've read, it was still really engaging and by the end it even got quite thrilling. this was a little boring throughout though, i wont lie.
as for the characters, i found them all to be extremely one-dimensional and dull when compared to the development of characters ive come to know from this author. this cast was bland, individual voices mingled too much and didnt nearly have enough personality to set individuals apart. i did really love poirot in this one again, luckily, he was as charming and funny as ever so that kept me entertained.

overall, a nice read that i'm happy i picked up, but i doubt i'll reach for it again.

this was a fantastic novel, i loved the premise of it. once again i was unable to correctly deduce the killer, but i still have hope for myself. plus its good to have captain hastings my good friend captain hastings back in the mix, i love him and poirot as a duo. docking .25 stars because i had to go back and reread other sections in order for the breakdown to make any sense. there is such a thing as being too convoluted.
