while this wasn't as good as the previous two novels of christie's i've read, it was still really engaging and by the end it even got quite thrilling. this was a little boring throughout though, i wont lie.
as for the characters, i found them all to be extremely one-dimensional and dull when compared to the development of characters ive come to know from this author. this cast was bland, individual voices mingled too much and didnt nearly have enough personality to set individuals apart. i did really love poirot in this one again, luckily, he was as charming and funny as ever so that kept me entertained.

overall, a nice read that i'm happy i picked up, but i doubt i'll reach for it again.

this was a fantastic novel, i loved the premise of it. once again i was unable to correctly deduce the killer, but i still have hope for myself. plus its good to have captain hastings my good friend captain hastings back in the mix, i love him and poirot as a duo. docking .25 stars because i had to go back and reread other sections in order for the breakdown to make any sense. there is such a thing as being too convoluted.

This is the first Christie I've read featuring a serial killer and while that is interesting, the idea of Poirot having a nemesis also made me so mad lol! How dare you mess with Papa Poirot!

Definitely solid, but pales in comparison to The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and And Then There Were None. I found this antagonist not as compelling and less sense of atmosphere to story, both things that made those works so enthralling (among other things). Don’t even want to comment on the romance shoved in at the end… Still, it was very hard to put this one down; it’s good, just not great.
